I wouldn't mess with it.
Your Sport is basically new and still under the bumper to bumper warranty, let Ford deal with it, that's what the warranty is for.
Follow this advice. If you mess with the connector and that turns out not to be the issue you may void your warranty.

LOL. They were pics from a print out the dealership gave me.

So, good news, I fixed it for $32, I got the harness from ebay LX6T13A840, it was a PITA but its done, I wrapped the wire and as much of other wires with some fine stainless steel wire mesh and sprayed a heavy dose of peppermint oil all around that area and on the harnesses hopefully that keeps the little fu**ERs away.

I also read another post where someone had noticed mice were getting in from a firewall drain, I silicone some of the mesh wire over that hole.

Good on you getting the 4WD problem sorted out.
Now if the vermin will cooperate, no more issues.

I had a bad ground a few weeks ago that caused all sorts of issues, the ground located near the drivers side fender was loose. I fixed that and it's been fine since, I did check it again and it's still tight. I tried disconnecting the battery cables for a cpl of hours, first start the 4wd issue popped right back up.
"Wave-washers" work to eliminate the cable vibrating loose

In the research I did the circuit board inside the module is grounded to the housing and the housing is grounded to the body with the attachment hardware. Apparently the circuit board can loose it's ground connection to the housing over time which causes the AWD/4WD fault as well as other errors. Fortunately the circuit board also has a ground connection to unused pin 46 of the connector which can be accessed to attach a separate ground wire that can be grounded to the body which intern completes the ground path of the circuit board. Once the circuit board is properly grounded the module functions correctly and the AWD/4WD fault is mitigated and allows the drivetrain to function normally.

The above is basically the same information as in the video that Dude posted.
The reason cleaning the module grounding points didn't work to restore the module ground is most likely because the circuit boards ground path inside the module is compromised and the only way to restore the ground is to attach an external ground to pin 46 that the circuit board is still connected to.
hi , i have the same problem. Wher is AWD module ?

The module is located under the front passenger seat.
There are other things that can cause the 4WD fault, it's best to have a real diagnosis.

My problem is, when starting after a left or right turn, I hear sounds from the rear axle, as if something was blocking the rear axle. Sometimes when driving in SPORT or when driving on slippery surfaces, AWD fault pops up, and then disappears. When starting quickly in SPORT, you can hear a squeak under the car for a moment.

Unfortunately it sounds like you have a bad RDU. Some others on the board have had RDU issues and had to get them replaced.
Depending on the year of your Sport, the initial work around is to change the RDU fluid and have a new vent hose installed, there is a TSB that covers that, if that doesn't cure the problem the RDU needs to be replaced, hopefully you are under warranty.
