Best of both worlds...Lightning's an amazing truck!

I've been considering adding an F150 reg cab, V8 with a trip to Roush. Under $70k, but still a little much for me to chew on being retired and on a fixed income.

problem is EV's are way to expensive for what you get up here. I seriously looked at a ev to replace my fusion but decide on the bronco sport instead. after I calculated the power charges from charging for my milage to commute to and from work, I would only be saving 1200 a year over fuel, filter and oil changes. so take the 35K price tag vs the 60K price tag for the ev and I was looking at over 20 years of fuel and maintenance paid for in the difference in cost alone. when I only have 7 years left to work, it just didn't make good financial sense. so anyone who was just going to buy an ev no mater what, has done so. now its the people who look at it like me, how much is it going to save me and can it do what I want it to do. to visit my family it is a 500 mile drive so now I am looking at adding 1 to 2 hours to the already long drive for recharging. and frankly 1200 bucks a year isn't worth the time charging and looking for chargers when planning a rout. so they have to drop the price down to be similar to regular vehicles or they are going to keep losing money at this point. and at the same time they have to keep improving range so they are more than a in town car. a 1000km (600mile) range would be a great start.

Got Ford employee price minus $9,300 in EV rebates. Home charge 11pm-7am @6 cents kwh. Pretty sweet deal!
Test drove a Charger Scat Pack, $19k off with employee price. Stunning car, $100k+ w/HST.

ya the lightning with the 17K off in Kamloops was still over 60K haha I got my bronco sport for 35K. I didn't get into the 2 tier pricing from hydro as most of my electrical use is during the day with the ac and that would have went up a little.

I think the key to making it work is being able to home charge. If you can install the charger relatively cheaply the economics are pretty good. Of course being able to have two vehicles helps too when you don’t have to rely on charging away from home. I’m of course one now who thinks a hybrid might just be the best of both worlds.

I'm not a fan of PHEV's due to cost, complexity, weight & limited electric range. I wonder why Ford doesn't offer a Bronco Sport PHEV?
8 months with the Lightning, I've never used public charging, barely makes a dent in the hydro bill. Awesome to warm the cabin in the garage with the efficient heat pump. A very quick, super smooth, quiet, great handling truck, one pedal mode I never touch the brake pedal, frunk's amazing, no gear shifts & best of all, no gas stations!
