<Long story, but since I don't know what is relevant, I am giving it all to you...>

Two Fridays (11 days) ago I bought my 2024 BS BL.

All was good. 7 days in the sales person calls and wants to schedule work for a recall. I asked what it was for. He didn't know. I asked how imperative, and he said soon. I asked how long it would take and he said about 5 hours of labor (!) and a day, maybe two. I said I would let him know.

Starting on Saturday, I got at least daily calls from him, which I ignored since I still didn't have time to let them have the car for the day or maybe two.

Today I called him back. I said I searched the .GOV web site and there were no recalls listed for my VIN. He said it was new. I said I still didn't have time to get the car to him. He said he would have someone drop off a loaner car, and take my car, and then return it back to me when complete.

OK. Now I am suspicious. I ask again what it is for, and he goes away, and comes back and says they need to replace the fuel tank. What???? I said I was driving to AZ on Thursday and did not have a day to let them have the car. He said, You really ought to let us do the work before such a trip. WHAT???

So, I said, if the loaner car is a full size Bronco, I will let you do that. And if my car is not done by the end of the day, I am taking your Bronco to Arizona. He agreed.

So the question to y'all is: Have any of you heard of this? They are certainly jumping through a lot of hoops to get my car back, for some reason.

Thoughts?

First I’ve heard of that. What’s the recall number? If the dealership can’t give you the recall number then it does sound suspicious.

Your are lucky to be getting a loaner car. While I would be curious too, I would be happy to know they are looking out for me, especially when it involves a fuel issue. Maybe it got damaged during transport to the dealership? The repair paperwork will have the reason for replacement I would think. I've heard of silent recalls; maybe this is one of them.

Keep us posted.

I can’t figure out how to post a link to an existing thread but I previously mentioned the fuel tank replacement on the “Fuel warning” discussion.

Shortly after we picked up our BS, my dealer’s Service Manager contacted me to bring our new BL in to install some of the missing parts that I had mentioned (lower dash passenger side cover plate, left and right hood seals, pencil holder). They also advised that our fuel tank needed to be replaced under CSP 24P23 (attached). This is not a recall and as per the CSP, the tank will be replaced when other service is performed. According to the CSP, unless the vehicle is scheduled for service, owners will not be informed otherwise.

The sense of urgency in both our cases is likely contributed to the fact that the vehicle should not have been delivered without the fuel tank being replaced and the CSP wasn’t noticed beforehand.

It’s easy to obtain a link to a specific Post in an existing thread:
1. Search for the specific “Fuel warning” post (it’s one of yours so was easy to find), it’s Post #24 on the “Fuel warning” thread
2. On the #24 in that thread, copy the link: on the iPhone I just do a long press on the #24 and it prompts me to Copy Link, the link is:

https://www.broncosportforum.com/forum/threads/fuel-warning.11917/post-207295

Can also get the link to the top of the “Fuel warning” thread which is:

Not sure there’s a real sense of urgency or else Ford would have told you it’s an emergency and you have to have the work done immediately - in this case the CSP calls for the fix on the next service visit. That happens sometimes for specific VINs like you experienced.

Btw, Ford stated the “lower dash passenger side cover” will no longer be replaced - there is a ford bulletin on that which happened in 2022. assuming you are referring to the fuse panel cover which also covers the blower motor.

My dealership did replace for free under warranty.

You can find technical service information applicable to your VIN here:

https://www.ford.com/support/service-information/

That’s a good link to bookmark.

You should see the bulletin showing Ford isn’t replacing the “lower dash passenger side cover” assuming you are referring to the fuse panel cover which also covers the blower motor.

CSP shows Ford of Canada. Not sure if it affects US vehicles.

THIS is GREAT information. I did see your thread, Kijor, but didn't read enough detail.

THANK YOU for sharing!!!

The site does mention the Low Fuel Warning issue, but the site does not link that to replacing the fuel tank...
Still, as you say, super useful information!

This sentence in the CSP makes me nervous...

...an intermittent open circuit at an electrical connection integrated into the fuel tank...

Purchased a new BS last month. Took it in for the receiver install. They ordered a new fuel tank and when it arrives, asked me to schedule replacement. I too looked for TSBs with no luck. Just saw this thread. I'm in the US (greater Wash, DC area).
