According to the Genie web site, it takes two stages to program the Homelink to Genie. You first program the Genie remote to the Homelink button, Then you program THAT button to the garage door opener by pressing its learn (older Genie) button.

The way I read it is that the Genie remote is used to program the Homelink, and then the Homelink gets programmed to the opener.
I got it to work, thanks for reply though!

What did you finally do to get it to work?

I also thought of tossing chicken bones in the air and chanting "be gone, Homelink demons".

After syncing the handheld garage opener to the Homelink, I then had to hook up the actual garage door motor to the Homelink by the 'learn' button, which wasn't in the Owner's manual. Luckily people have figured out the sequences for many of the different garage door models.

Yep. That's what I found out too! The Owners manual for the Bronco does not say it's a two step learn process; it just tells you how to sync the garage door opener fob to the Homelink button.

Steps.
1. Hold buttons 1 and 3 until rapid flash to clear memory
2. Hold remote and home link button until rapid flash.
3. Press learn button on back of motor head.
4. within 30 seconds press home link button twice. You may have to hit 3 times and it should start moving
Hello, I've had my 23 OBX for about 2 weeks now and still haven't gotten the Homelink garage buttons to sync up to my Legacy garage door opener, or my universal wireless remotes. Was wondering if anyone with a 23 BS has encountered this type of problem. I know there are treads about people having trouble syncing their Genie garage door, but I don't have a genie so thought those instructions wouldn't necessarily apply. I have read the owner's manual too. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

I'm having this issue however I have a Ryobi garage door. I read the directions listed in the Ford users manual as well as the Ryobi users manual. I have a 2025 Bronco Sport and I never get a solid light as some of the instructions say. When I hold the outer 2 buttons down I get the rapid blink that turns into a slow blink I'm assuming indicates the buttons are cleared. When I press one of the Homelink buttons initially after I reset it I get a slow blink for like 30 seconds. Only when I press and or press and hold do I get an immediate rapid blink after it has slow blinked for 30 seconds. I have tried everything even holding the learn programming button on my GD motor. I'd love to get this programmed and it really shouldn't be this difficult.

I read a comment that I haven't tried yet which is do the homelink & opener first then climb the latter and hold the GD motor program button then press and hold the homelink twice or a 3rd and it should take it. Hope this one works because I've done every other possible combination.

To program your Ryobi garage door opener with your car's HomeLink system, first put the HomeLink system in learning mode by pressing and holding the outside buttons for 20-30 seconds until the indicator light flashes rapidly. Then, hold the Ryobi remote and the HomeLink button simultaneously until the light changes to a rapid blink, and finally, press the "learn" button on the garage door opener motor.

Here's a more detailed breakdown of the process:
1. Prepare the HomeLink System:
Locate the HomeLink Buttons: Find the HomeLink buttons in your car's rearview mirror or sun visor.
Enter Learning Mode: Press and hold the two outside HomeLink buttons simultaneously until the indicator light begins to blink rapidly (approximately 20-30 seconds).
Release the Buttons: Once the light starts flashing rapidly, release the buttons.

2. Program the Ryobi Opener:
Hold the Remote and HomeLink Button:
Hold the Ryobi garage door opener remote within a few inches of the HomeLink button you want to program. Simultaneously press and hold the button on the remote and the corresponding HomeLink button in your car.
Wait for the Indicator Light:
The indicator light will start flashing slowly, then quickly when pairing is complete.
Test the Button:
Once the light changes to a rapid blink, release both buttons and test the programmed HomeLink button.

3. Teach the Garage Opener about the New Button (If Necessary):
Find the "Learn" Button:
If the programmed HomeLink button doesn't work, locate the "learn" or "smart" button on the garage door opener motor.
Press the Learn Button:
Press and hold the "learn" button on the garage door opener motor.
Return to the Car:
Within 30 seconds, return to your car and press and hold the programmed HomeLink button for 2-3 seconds, then release.
Repeat if Necessary:
Repeat pressing and holding the HomeLink button until the garage door activates.

Or you can go to the Homelikk page, enter your year, make and model vehicle:

Yes it is. I don’t have a Ryobi, I have the linkmaster 8500 garage door opener and these instructions worked:

(you may want to first use the “Erasing HomeLink Button Memory” procedure)

Garage door programming: Press and hold the HomeLink button. After 20 seconds, the HomeLink LED will flash slowly. Continue to press and hold the HomeLink button, then press and hold the remote control button until the LED in the HomeLink changes from a slow flash to a rapid flash. Release the HomeLink button.

Erasing HomeLink Button Memory To erase programming from the buttons, press and hold the two outside HomeLink buttons until the HomeLink indicator changes from orange to rapidly flashing green. This should take about 10 seconds. You should erase all programming before selling the vehicle.

I think this is the window I'm missing because when I erase the homelink and start from scratch any of the 3 buttons I press I'm getting the slow blink. I've been waiting till it stops, pressing it again and holding it and the whole time I'm getting the rapid blinking from start to finish.
