Isn’t it great that FORD puts bad programming in the Gateway Module in the 2021 Bronco Sports that causes the car to fail emissions inspections. It’s interesting that it doesn’t show its ugly head until the initial warranty expires. Seems like an engineered money maker.
This is the first ford I’ve owned since my 1962 FORD Galaxie XL. Kind of makes me thing that FORD doesn’t equate to “First on race day”. I hate to think “Found on the Road DEAD” might be more likely.
The wife’s reply is “should have bought a Honda”.

Hey, Bob. Can you please send over a message with your VIN, estimated mileage, and some more details on your current situation? I would like to see what I can do to assist on my end.

We have 2021 also
First emission they could not do till we took to ford and they did adjustment to fix it, next year same thing because it was not fixed properly, had to pay $100 (dealer gave me deal) to fix correctly. It was a known recall I received paperwork on from ford. I was told to call ford for authorization for dealer to refund. Ford customer service told me my car wasn’t eligible for the repair, even though my Vin is on the recall paperwork. And don’t get me started on the moaning backup noise that has been repaired at least 3 times after much effort on my part, that is still horrible

no results

@Pamm 22N15 is not a recall, it is Customer Satisfaction Program 22N15

This customer satisfaction program provides a one-time repair to reprogram the Gateway Module (GWM) for unlimited years of service and unlimited miles from the warranty start date of the vehicle.

Coverage is automatically transferred to subsequent owners.

@Pamm See above links which states 22N15 is a free fix… is there more information from the dealership which provides the proof from Ford the fix is no longer free?

CSP 22N15 states “one-time repair to reprogram the Gateway Module (GWM) for unlimited years of service and unlimited miles from the warranty start date of the vehicle.
Coverage is automatically transferred to subsequent owners.”

Is it possible 22N15 was already applied?

See Customer Satisfaction Program 22N15

A simple search of that recall number informs me that
1)
"PROGRAM TERMS
This customer satisfaction program provides a one-time repair to reprogram the Gateway Module
(GWM) for unlimited years of service and unlimited miles from the warranty start date of the vehicle.
Coverage is automatically transferred to subsequent owners"

and 2)
" Ford deployed an Over-The-Air (OTA) update to remedy this issue on August 18, 2023. That
OTA update applied to the Telematics Control Unit (TCU) and provided an equivalent remedy
to the FDRS-based GWM software update described above.
Customers who received the OTA update do not require the GWM software update."

Print the letter, show it to the service person. Or go to some other Ford dealer and make sure the first dealer knows that'll be your last visit to them. Make sure the GM knows that, not just the SM because that's the person that will care.

22N15 is a customer satisfaction program not a recall and I’m still not convinced the “OTA update applied to the Telematics Control Unit (TCU)” is applicable to Bronco Sports … 2 Ford mechanics have told me that OTA does not apply but then owners have stated it does so who knows.

I don't know if there is a way for us to tell if the update is needed or not other than have Ford tell you. My car is smack in the middle of that range and I got a letter in January 2024 that my car got the OTA. A Bronco Sport is my only Ford, it's for that vehicle. Here is my letter.

There is no way to know version numbers of software (other than Sync and Ford Nav) except by using Ford’s system (e.g. FDRS) at least as far as I was told by 2 Ford Techs who also said the dealership did the OTA update not the vehicle by itself. Remains a mystery.
