I have posted here in the past about my Bronco because on the average I drive about 1000 miles a week. The odometer recently turned over 175,000 miles. I’ve only had one major issue and of course it was that the transmission went out at 126,000 miles and I had four replaced it which cost about $6000 but it came with basically at three year unlimited mileage warranty. About a month ago I had the electronic control module for the transmission go out (located under passenger seat) and cost about $400.
But I’m still happy with this vehicle as it fits my needs perfectly.
What’s funny is that the first badlands I had (which was totaled by a deer hit) had the extended warranty to 125,000 miles. When I bought this one that warranty was no longer available and you could only buy 100,000 miles. Funny how that math works out!
now, I was recently driving to Colorado and my rooftop had a lot of camping gear, etc. on it, creating of course heavy drag. As I was driving 80 mph on I 70 with heavy winds and of course, the constant slow climb to Denver altitude, the vehicle was struggling between seventh and eighth gear on the automatic transmission. And I got a warning, check engine light ( the little tool wrench.). I pulled over at the next rest stop and let us sit there for a while and when I restarted it seemed to be fine and little wrench light went away. I decided to set it on manual mode and did the shifting with the paddle shifters. And everything was great, I did keep it on seventh gear longer than usual.
The warning registered as low pressure issues on the turbo chargers this gives me concerns!
But I guess this mileage is about the average life of turbo chargers. I don’t drive the car hard and of course a lot of Highway miles.
Has anybody encounters a similar issue since the lights have gone away? I am assuming it’s safe to drive. I did a 4 Hour Dr. this past weekend and everything seemed fine.
