Ford Bronco Sport 2021 Badlands 175,000 miles. Still going strong but…. IMG_0321

I have posted here in the past about my Bronco because on the average I drive about 1000 miles a week. The odometer recently turned over 175,000 miles. I’ve only had one major issue and of course it was that the transmission went out at 126,000 miles and I had four replaced it which cost about $6000 but it came with basically at three year unlimited mileage warranty. About a month ago I had the electronic control module for the transmission go out (located under passenger seat) and cost about $400.
But I’m still happy with this vehicle as it fits my needs perfectly.
What’s funny is that the first badlands I had (which was totaled by a deer hit) had the extended warranty to 125,000 miles. When I bought this one that warranty was no longer available and you could only buy 100,000 miles. Funny how that math works out!

now, I was recently driving to Colorado and my rooftop had a lot of camping gear, etc. on it, creating of course heavy drag. As I was driving 80 mph on I 70 with heavy winds and of course, the constant slow climb to Denver altitude, the vehicle was struggling between seventh and eighth gear on the automatic transmission. And I got a warning, check engine light ( the little tool wrench.). I pulled over at the next rest stop and let us sit there for a while and when I restarted it seemed to be fine and little wrench light went away. I decided to set it on manual mode and did the shifting with the paddle shifters. And everything was great, I did keep it on seventh gear longer than usual.
The warning registered as low pressure issues on the turbo chargers this gives me concerns!
But I guess this mileage is about the average life of turbo chargers. I don’t drive the car hard and of course a lot of Highway miles.
Has anybody encounters a similar issue since the lights have gone away? I am assuming it’s safe to drive. I did a 4 Hour Dr. this past weekend and everything seemed fine.

All I can say is "WOW"!

How often did you have your transmission oil changed?
Does it have a transmission oil filter?

With me, this is pretty much my first automatic. I've always owned manuals.

Presently, what I have in mind is when I reach 10K miles on my Bronco, I plan to have my transmission oil drained and replaced. While this may sound way too early for many, this early oil change is mainly to empty out, and clean the break in materials if anything. Plus I don't really trust automatics anyway.

Also too, if the auto industry really wanted to, they could do a hell of a lot better w/automatics than they presently do.
Case in point, the Allison Automatic Truck Transmission, which is said to be a phenomenal transmission, perhaps the very best. The very first thing that caught my eye w/it is its external spin on oil filter that can be easily changed vs. some dinky and tiny one on inside the transmission. That alone would help a lot w/automatics by making oil changes both easier, but also more often.

Glad to hear of someone who seems to love his BS. 175,000 miles is terrific. I'm just getting sick and tired of all the recalls ! ?

to answer your question I had the original transmission fluid for the entire 126000 that it lasted. I’m not sure that cause the issue or simply wear and tear on a complicated new transmission. Specially driving long distances w the cruise control on this car. THERES LOTS OF SHIFTING to keep this vehicle going 80mph w adaptive cruise control.
bybthecway - that cruise control will wear your rear tires faster than front as it uses those brakes primarily while activated.

Yup. I know what you mean. On my car only the battery recall came to my attention.
