2.3L Option in the future?

I agree with the Kong on this one. Ford will make a hybrid or full-electric version available for the Bronco Sport before fitting one with a bigger ICE. The ICE hasn't been entirely kicked out of the lineup yet, but it's certainly being handed its hat.

I think he means no more 2.3 in the Corsair I read the same thing too. The 2.3 carries on in the other models.

All I know is that the 2.0 feels perfect in the BS. Nothing sluggish about it, at all. Nothing about the 2.0 leaves one wanting just a bit more power. It's plenty powerful, on or off the pavement.

Mine I have to ease down on gas pedal or excessive torque steer. I don't think mine needs any more power.

More power is always better that said, can't see Ford going through the engineering and testing expenses.. to get a 2.3 into the sport. You'd be looking at msrp of 50k

Hey....someone who gets it.? Pipe dreams and "serve me" wishes. Want a 2.3 buy a Bronco...otherwise if you offer every upgrade and incentive in the Ford fleet...it will cost $70K+ and or...what's the incentive to buy a bigger/more expensive model.

My other Lincoln M K S was 375 hp , 3.5 . Ford should have put that one in the bronco raptor.

I've never experienced lack of power with my Badlands. But if offered, I'd order it. Biggest offroad drawback on BS is the lack of a low range. Not from lack of power, but engine braking going down steep mountain trails. But if they did that, would no doubt raise price and cannibalism Bronco sales.

I would certainly consider a hybrid version of the Bronco Sport, but only if it had the same AWD capability and power as the 2.0.

The 2.3 will never appear in the bronco sport. The take rate would be too small as it would be offered in a high level trim. This is why it is disappearing in the Lincoln Corsair and the performance difference is very little. The Bronco is supposed to get the hybrid treatment. I work at Escape/Corsair Factory

The 2.3 crank drops right into the 2.0 block. The Focus ST guys do it all the time to convert their 2.0 to a 2.3. And the Focus RS ppl like to build 2.0 blocks with 2.3 cranks cause 2.0 blocks are significantly stronger then the 2.3 blocks. So the sports already have the stronger 2.0 blocks so we are half way there!

Ford isn't going to build a 2.3 sport but anyone with know how definitely could do it because its all bolt in parts no custom fab required. Start search online building 2.3 with 2.0 block very common and proven. You can even buy 2.0 blocks with 2.3 cranks shipped right to your door ready to swap in.

It seems to me the point of more power in the context of a Bronco Sport is getting more torque to the wheels in off-road situations. Traditionally, for vehicles meant for off-road use that's been accomplished with lower gearing. I wonder if it would be more difficult to stroke a 2.0L to 2.3L, or to find a way to add lower gearing? Given the amount of electromechanical involvement between the computer and power transfer unit on the Bronco Sport, I don't see how you can swap out the PTU.

I think the current 2.0 turbocharged is just about the right engine for this size vehicle.

Yeah. I would've made the 2.0L an option on the Outer Banks. If the OB is a 'luxury' spin-off of the Big Bend and the Badlands is the 'off-road' spin of the BB, the Outer Banks should've had the 2.0L as an option. Maybe without the extra GOAT modes and diff lock, trail control, etc ... but still as a straight 2.0L.
