in one week will be going to the midwest to collect my kid who just finished 2 years of grad school at IU/Bloomington. will be towing a 4x8 uhaul closed trailer from Bloomington to Ithaca NY… around 750mi. Mostly flat but you encounter some long hills crossing the Cataraugus Mountains in western NY. Then of course, Ithaca is in the Finger Lakes region; a LOT of driving up and down some serious hills. Any advice on going downhill without riding the brakes?
My first time posting on the board… hope I’ve done it correctly! heh-heh…

2,000 lb. camper no problem. Wouldn't tow it in the Rockies but here in the East, no problems.

Can anyone help me find the wiring harness connector? I have the hitch receiver and full size spare so I’m assuming I have the tow package. I can’t find the connector though.

If anyone is curious what an overloaded Bronco Sport looks like, this is it!
The trailer had a motorcycle and was stuffed full of bags and other things of that nature, the Bronco Sport itself was packed to the brim, and the Thule on the roof was also packed full.
All in all I am guessing that the trailer was about 3000lbs loaded, and the Bronco Sport and thule had about 400lbs split between them.
the overall trip was about 1200km through the Canadian rockies.
Over the course of the whole trip I used 94 octane fuel to give the mighty 1.5L the best chance it could get.

Overall I have to say I am really impressed at how it did, I really was hesitant going 1000lbs over the trailer weight, but it made it all in one piece. Since this trip it has been to the dealer for the routine maintenance, and upon reading over the usual ford inspection papers there wasn't anything to note, so hopefully everything inside the shoe box sized block made it unscathed.

Did you mention to your service tech the details of your trip? Your transmission has very specific service requirements under severe duty. I would classify your trip as severe duty.

I did mention I had "done a road trip with a trailer", though beyond that I didn't mention specifics
