is the Cracked injector recall the most severe issue that people have seen for the 1.5L?

The recall is to install a vent tube, just in case of a cracked injector, not that there have been many cracked injectors.
As for your question, one of the problems with the 1.5L engine cars, seems to be water pump failures. It has been suggested that this is caused by one of Ford's cost cutting measures, namely, having no idler pulley to maintain proper tension, but instead relying solely on the belt's elasticity and production tolerances.

During the year and a half I had my Big Bend, it lost power on the highway due to the fuel pump recall. That was scary as hell and the dealer determined it did occur because of the fuel pump recall issue. Never any problems with the injectors while I owned it.

It's the most severe issue my Outer Banks has had a recall for.

And even this is a nothing burger according to the mechanic who did the recall work. He said it'll never be needed.

I just experienced a turbo failure when the prop seized up and oil pressure built up until it blew oil through the system and out the exhaust and in the shoert 2-3 miles limping home to have it towed to the dealership, complete engine failure, i have 74000 miles on it. Never got an extended warranty, and no issues before this, now it looks as if it is dead in the water, as a matter of speaking (unless a miracle turned a river to run through the dealerships lot and leave my sport under water). This news is not easy to wrap my head around on such a new car, now my 88 defender, comes with the territory, not so cool in a shiny Ford.

5.3 qts per the manual but thats how much to fill. did they up the size of the oil pan as a fix?
I don’t know about a fix but Yes they did change the Oil Pan to a Plastic One with more room, My 23 OBX Takes 6.5 Quarts of Oil.

Sorry to read of your issue.
An extended warranty is a smart move on the 1.5L I'd even buy one for the 2.0L.
