Check out https://www.sportwing.com. I bought painted to match side body molding for my BS BL from them last year. Excellent quality. Price has gone up a bit since last year (making them twice the price of the Amazon ones). But they're really worth it IMO.
Great choice! Eruption green metallic is the best color. Some would say the only color; all others being the title of a 1967 Procol Harum song!
The current theory is this:
Considering our current vehicles are always "on" whatever benefit this device MIGHT provide to the battery won't help any of the l'il computers/modules that will have been in operation at the time of the EMP.
The only way to have a vehicle that might survive EMP is...
In reply to the thread title....
Yes.
This is the answer (post #29 in the thread shown above):

As an aside, it was pix of your hood-scooped Bronco Sport that got me to put one on mine!
So one less member of the hood-scooped Bronco Sport club. Makes my BS BL sad. ?
But we're also happy. Because my full-size BL can say, "Welcome to the Bronco6g club!"
See you over there!
Cheers.
Speaking of potential problems/issues, let's add to the fun our over-connected cars give us (sarc):

Ford (and numerous other companies; looking at you, Tesla. And our own government, too) only has it/have themselves to blame.
They choose to do business in countries (like China) that are notorious for stealing IP rationalizing that it is a good long-term business strategy. But these companies...
Absolutely agree now that USB is the way to go. For Sync 3....
Because, with Sync 4 you don't have the option; all delivered via WiFi; no USB option shows on tne updates page. So I'm trying to see if there are ways around that for my third Ford.
Interesting you note that.
As I've written in several posts above I just updated my two Fords. The second vehicle DID download the map update over WiFi and install, but something seemed off (not fully or correctly installed, which is why I went the USB route).
The Bronco Sport tried several...
Saw that. Yes, good news. Me, being the eternal pessimist, sees the auto manufacturers seeing this as only a temporary setback. Like the Big Tech spy giants, these companies know that the younger generation is already desensitized to this so by and large it doesn't care. They'll be back to doing...
Wanted to add that I did the map update on one vehicle following Ford's instruction to have the engine running. What a waste of gas.
So for the second vehicle map update, I tried to do it w/o starting the engine. I turned the key to "accessory" and installed w/o ever starting the engine until...
2023
Great instructions in Post 1, btw.
And I do now see what you mean about the number of years one gets. The one download is for this year's. So I guess we'll see next year if the complimentary downloads is three. Or one. Or something else.
Great thread; I found it HUGELY helpful.
The Ford website never updated via the WiFi route, so I ran the update via the USB route on both vehicles. Generated and uploaded the .xml file. .xml files accepted, all good. Thank you, everyone in this thread for the help.
P.S. One vehicle updated the map to NA 2 23 via WiFi. The other I'm...
Will give it another shot. I have checked for updates at the head unit several times. Each time it tells me I'm up-to-date at the vehicle. But online it still shows as needing the update. Maybe just a time cycle thing.
Thanks!
