Getting 28+ mpg in mixed driving after nearly 5k miles. What I expected (CRV or RAV 4 I believe get better mpg if that is the top concern - imho BS more fun) Did pop a K&N filter in there, but that doesn't provide an earth shattering difference :sunglasses:
One way to possibly address hood issue is applying dynamat-like material to its underside (have used product called RattleTrap)... Plan to do this as soon as hood insulators are back in inventory (will post pictures in thread on sound insulating BS).
Ah, yes, actually found the YouTube on that fix and tried it... Unfortunately didn't fix -> clue was with sunroof 1/3 open it still creaked with none of the seals making contact. Have actually tried that fixed twice thinking maybe wasn't liberal enough with the grease...
Anyway, another BS...
Indeed, back to the fit and finish Q! Overall, good. Have owned a Ford Edge (previous gen) as well as a Ford Escape (2 gen ago, when it was still nice and boxy). Tried to keep expectations tempered... Well a friend worked for a company where they had a small fleet of Ford Edges (current gen) and...
Added seals to door gaps below A and B pillars... Also a bit of rattle trap inside front fenders and some foam material in rear doors. Overall, now getting a solid 2 - 3 db less noise at 65mph (run DB meter on same stretch of highway for consistency). BS does sound more hushed now.
Next step is...
Have actually found Carvana offers rather weak as of late. Most recent (in last 6 months) have been my Q60 (rare 6 spd manual!!) that was $5k ish below Carmax! On my RDX (which I traded for the BS) they offered $3,470 less than what I got at dealer trade (figure does not include $1.5k+ in sales...
Would've been happy with "waterproof" cloth seats actually but the creature comforts of wireless charging and other items are very nice (have Carplay, but always liked built-in navigation vs having to play w/ phone). Even the co-pilot + with the adaptive cruise is appreciated - never liked...
Ran db meter app and seems to be 1 db improvement. BS ran 73-74 db in this stretch of highway at 65mph before that is now 72-73 db. It's close! Aiming 2-3 db improvement so more to come...
Yes to self-stick... Used about 18"x18" square for the fronts and slightly smaller in the back. Basically cut em up to various sizes to work around side impact beams and other things in the way. Believe general aim is to apply just enough to get rid of the tinny sheet metal resonance - which...
Well, really just applying some Dynamat like material here and there. Using a brand called RattleTrap which is more cost effective.
For the first 1st step kept it simple:
Applied as many pieces of RattleTrap to the outer skin of the doors (front and back)
Used speaker cavity to get access to...
In the spirit of lets find more "missing" parts in the BS  ... Bit off topic, but pic below compared to pic above reveals another one (noticed it in another thread). Realize there is, besides the options listed, another subtle difference b/w Base vs Big Bend/Outer Banks noted as...
For the '22 (and mid '21) 1.5 ltr engines, "eliminated" engine cover is indeed the right term it seems vs "missing". Reason for this is there is a plastic bracket in the rear right area of the engine that was added by Ford to hold down two hoses. This bracket gets in the way of the engine cover...
Thought I'd get a thread on this going in case someone has been able to get the issue resolved (and yes, fully realize best solution is "don't get a moonroof"). Have a '22 Outer Banks with a moonroof that creaks when it is closed as well as partially closed around the point where it starts to...
Hood fine before engine cover so thinking may not help for your issue - but who knows. Am planning to add some dynamat like material under the hood (reduces resonance in the metal) before installing hood insulator (when those back in stock).
