That's definitely too much brake dust! Have nearly 10k miles on mine and wheels don't look anything like that...
On a different note, it's well known dealerships don't like warranty work... And even more so, warranty work on cars not bought from them :sunglasses:
So after going through the trouble (but certainly thank you #Ford Motor Co for the effort) of having Ford setup a Dealer Service appointment (Balise Ford, Hyannis MA) to have the rattle looked at... "We test drove vehicle and could not replicate" response. NO FIX.
To be fair, noise is...
Have lowered cars before and appreciated the improvement a nice set of quality progressive springs bring to the table... So figured, why not a lift? Sharing in case useful for anyone considering the H&R lift springs.
Overall, happy w the H&R lift springs. BS ride seems to have less impact...
The hood liner is available for ordering?!? :) Been trying for months to order (been calling dealer every month, perhaps time for next call)! Did you order online or from your dealer?
Thanks for the tips! Thinking to get one too... Maybe having a light inside the cargo area shining outward on the window pane will help with seeing the graphic to align it? Do you think that would work/help?
There was a sale on that from one of the sponsors on our Forum here! Picked one up myself and agree 100% it's a very nice alternative to the $90 Ford option, easy install and fits nicely :)
Kinda a wave, but parked next to a fellow Area 51 owner (but Badlands vs my Outerbanks) and ended up chit chatting for a bit. He bought his Badlands from the lot at MSRP (knew dealer so market adjustment was dropped, good for him!).
Anyway, biggest difference b/w his Area 51 Badlands vs my Area...
Most intriguing as the BS also has a creaking sunroof! (sighhhhh) I was resolved to a day of applying silicon grease "everywhere" on the sunroof frame... Now I wonder what they adjusted on yours (sunroof creaks only when closed or 1/4 open... once opened beyond that the creaking stops).
As for...
Quite bummer and hopefully they resolve it for you (some Ford Goodwill!)... On a different note (sorry!), isn't there suppose to be a metal bash plate on the Badlands edition? That looks like the felt underliner, plus only 1 piece/on 1 side??
Another one to add to the "funny noises the BS makes" collection...
Well, appreciate any ideas out there... Definitely need headphones to hear it -> noise is the higher pitched, almost crackling like sound that cuts through the road noise in the video (its the constant creaking or...
Did you ever resolve this? My BS has a random popping sound when on the highway at around 50mph and up. Seems to come from just behind the rear passenger side... (part of the triumvirate of sunroof squeak and headliner vibration rattle that BS has been contending with)
And another point on those engine covers... If you notice the spongy foam material - that apparently helps to address European pedestrian safety standard requirements (cushioning effect I guess)... Not a requirement in the US so they can totally take it out to save $$$.
Owhhh... BUT one HUGE downside to this quiet the BS down effort... All those little squeaks and rattles become all the more obvious!! (here's looking at you sunroof and headliner... and yes, Ford Motor Co hope you are reading this!!)
Quick update, added foam material more for muffling sound... Placed wherever could place it in like a jigsaw puzzle. Guess one could just cut a huge piece tracing the white insulation material but didn't want to just blanket cover all the motors/wires/access holes and so on...
Overall, now...
First pic is the front fender... Usually hard to get behind it as typically covered up, but just kinda exposed w the BS. Had extra RattleTrap pieces so just put a couple small ones in there...
For those chasing roof rattles... Rattle on my BS roof is similar to the YouTube video but tapping on the headliner does not reveal it. Mine probably much more intermittent than his BS (wiring not as loose, sounds like his BS had the wiring pop out of whatever bracket was holding it in place) -...
