  1. Chip in Windshield

Got a chip on my last trip, called safelite. Fixed on my schedule, in my garage, insurance paid. Overall great experience only a tiny speck where tge repair took place. 10/10
  2. it's time for a replacement windshield. Where's the best place to get it?

I just had mine done last week. The technician from Safelite came out to my house to install it. When he was prepping the replacement windshield, he found a defect. So as he was telling me that they will get another windshield, he mentioned that I could request an OEM so that I have the Bronco...
  3. it's time for a replacement windshield. Where's the best place to get it?

...from the lower passenger side of my windshield. I haven't looked at the outside but inside, it looks to be about 18 inches long. I called Safelite and was told it was too long to repair. I have not called my insurance to see if they cover windshield replacement but there wasn't an option...
  4. I had my windshield replaced do I need to re-calibrate the camera?

That’s how the vehicle compass’ were calibrated when they first came out, don’t think it will work with the camera/radar equipment on the new cars.
  5. I had my windshield replaced do I need to re-calibrate the camera?

The Safelite guy who replaced the windshield on my MIL's Buick SUV simply drove the vehicle in circles - first clockwise, followed by counter-clockwise. No idea how correct or effective that was, but he said that was "how we do it".
  6. I had my windshield replaced do I need to re-calibrate the camera?

Yes, absolutely. You may not get an error message but it simply won't work. A different glass material or the windshield not sitting properly can cause refraction problems for the camera. Ford manual is very specific as to what to watch for when replacing a windshield.
  7. I had my windshield replaced do I need to re-calibrate the camera?

I had my windshield replaced do I need to re-calibrate the camera? The Safelite guy that did it says it is not necessary as there are no error messages after the replacement. Then I get an auto generated email two weeks later from Safelite saying I need to have it re-calibrated??? Do I really...
  8. 12 inch crack in windshield what do I do...

...they said it couldn't be fixed. They claimed it would need a new windshield. I decided to get a windshield, and since I had good luck with Safelite in the past, I called them (NOT the same company that fixed the chip). I told them I wanted OEM glass. They initially told me my insurance...
  9. 12 inch crack in windshield what do I do...

...never be repaired. As mentioned, I would confirm if you had auto glass with your insurance company. It would probably be cheaper to go with Safelite but I would insist on OEM which will cost more but probably less then a dealer. Based on the boxy style of these sports they have a very...
  10. 12 inch crack in windshield what do I do...

...If you can find a good local installer, I’d go with them. They’ll put in any glass you want. Most insurance will push you towards Safelite as it’s cheaper for them. Safelite can be ok but they tend to churn through employees so they have less skin in the game. The quality of the install...
  11. 12 inch crack in windshield what do I do...

...free glass replacement so likely looking at $1,000 deductible payment at a minimum. Where should I take it? The dealer? A glass shop like Safelite? What do I need to watch out for in getting it replaced? What will it cost if I have to pay fully out of pocket and not use insurance? Am I...
  12. Safelite windshield ?

If you have the adaptive cruise control you may need to have the cameras recalibrated. If so make sure your local Safelite can do that. Mine couldn't for my Rivian and I took it to a certified collision center. Insurance covered the whole thing.
  13. Safelite windshield ?

...where they wouldn’t try to fix it for free first. Replacing is is a whole different story. But I can say, when my Lexus side window was blown out, I was given the option of waiting a month or two for a OEM version or get the Safelite the next day. Now that was during Covid so not normal times.
  14. Safelite windshield ?

Still waiting. Between StateFarm and Safelite we still don’t have approval or schedule. That’s in FL where glass is covered 100%. They first had it put in for our 22 Full-size.
  15. Safelite windshield ?

    Very much ^^this^^.
  16. Safelite windshield ?

Are you saying you had the windshield repaired or replaced? I have seen in most cases they (insurance) will repair without any charge to you or deductible.
  17. Safelite windshield ?

Safelite did an OEM repair for us, but it cost us. Most insurance companies won't pay for it no matter how new the vehicle is. Best to do OEM too, as the third party replacement doesn't have all the connections.
  18. Safelite windshield ?

I’m biased in this regard as my Father worked for Car-lite glass (Ford) and my brother owned his own glass shop. But, I used safelite to replace the side glass on the LEXUS as they could do it the soonest during Covid. The issue I have with Safelite is they have the most business because they...
  19. Safelite windshield ?

I used Safelite but to install a replacement Ford OEM windshield - no issues with Safelite - also you might try asking State Farm again - look at your windshield and take pics - mine says Ford and shows the Ford emblem - that’s the reason my insurance company ok’d the use of Ford OEM glass Also...
  20. Safelite windshield ?

Anyone have one installed? StateFarm won’t use OEM unless I pay difference. Any issues with Safelite? Thanks.
