Dealer diagnosed it as a bad knock sensor. Tried to tell me it wasn't covered under my PremiumCare ESP. I told them it's under emissions......they ran it through the process and after my $100 deductible I headed home. They also told me to stop using additives, which I never have. I bought it from them 4k miles and 5 months ago, so not sure what the previous owner did.
Are you still using BP fuel? it is not a top tier fuel.
Try a fuel brand that is top tier once you get your Sport back on the good foot.

My options are BP, Caseys and Sams Club. Never had an issue with any of them. This motor can't be that finicky.....

I gave the SA that information and they said they would pass it to the tech. Not sure if it ever was or not. I know where G107 is (strut tower) and I cleaned it up, gonna look for G109 tonight (pretty sure its on the cylinder head).
It's not for your exact year, so they probably round filed it. But just because yours is a year newer doesn't mean that can't be the culprit. Same symptoms and an easy check. GLWR.

Your Sport will obviously run on those fuels.

Top tier fuel thumbnail summary:

Manufacturers have agreed on a top tier fuel spec because they were having too many warranty claims for carbon build up in valve trains, engine misfire issues and dirty fuel injectors.
General Motors, BMW, Toyota and Honda developed the specification. Other auto manufacturers signed on as well including Ford.
The upper level top tier fuels have 2x to 3x the detergents than the EPA's minimum callout which the manufacturers thought as insufficient in keeping modern engines clean

Ford calls out top tier fuel in the owner's manual.

If you have the option to run top tier fuel, it can help in avoiding problems noted by the automotive manufacturers.

G107 near the strut tower and G109 on the cylinder head. Had already cleaned the paint off the bung on G107 as well as the eyelet. I just removed G109 and it was maybe torqued to 15ft-lbs and needed major cleaning. Some 320 grit made quick work of the surfaces and I got it snugged down much tighter. The SSM of installing the eyelet wrong would not apply as its a circle with a big flat notch in it, kind of hard to mess up. Regardless both grounds are now clean.

Hopefully and I'll try and get some top tier fuel in there, but living in a town of 900 people and the nearest top tier station is 25 miles away, makes it challenging.

300 miles later and she is running better than ever! Filled up with some Quik Trip 91 today as we made a run to the big city. Picked up my favorite oil and a Motorcraft filter and will get to know it a little better tomorrow after my first oil change on her.

It's a long term thing. "Top Tier" brands are an agreement among some fuel and auto brands to basically have more cleaning detergent in the fuel to help keep the engines cleaner. Most commonly PEA. And this is more important in GDI engines.

If you don't have a top tier station, you can useany PEA additive, but I would make sure to follow the directions becuase you can get oil contamination if you use too much too often. Like the Tectron Complete should only be used twice in an oil change period. The concentration is something like ten times more than in pump fuel. However, some people have looked at the content and only add an ounce or maybe two per tank.

This might be worth the effort to keep the valves on a GDI engine clean.

I have access to most top tier gas stations. I go to Costco for the cost savings.

I believe the new 2.0L MPC engine in my 2025 BL is both direct and port injection.
