I got this 3 times now, called the dealer after the 1st time. SA said if you shut it off and restart and the wrench is gone, its fine to drive until I can get it in. Bought a Ford premium care ESP 2 days ago as the car has 40K and out of b2b. I scanned and got code P0130D, that leads to injectors, which is a recall but no parts available. They are picking up the car next Wednesday and will diagnose.

I will say the vehicle drives normal even with the light on.
The Motorcraft branded injectors are readily available from online parts sites such as Rock Auto. Not sure why Ford dealers wouldn't be able to get the injectors.

My 2021 Badlands had the wrench light on along with various error messages including a 4WD error. Other than all the warnings the default mode was 2WD and drove normally, though there was no 4WD. In my case the 4WD module needed to be replaced, then all was good again.

You tell me, lol. This is straight from Fords website for recalls when entering my VIN:

If the light is coming on due to one or more leaking fuel injectors the dealership would replace but you might not have a fuel leak and have another issue for that code:

“Ford DTC P130D indicates "Knock Control Combustion Performance Forced Limited Power," commonly affecting 1.5L/2.0L EcoBoost engines in vehicles like the Ford Escape and Bronco Sport. It signifies the PCM detects excessive spark knock, causing a "wrench" light and limp mode. The primary fix is often a PCM software calibration update, though it can also stem from loose grounds (G109/G107) or fuel issues.”

No guarantee that info is accurate

Yep, thats part of the injector recall, a PCM software update. My wife has put BP 89 octane in it the last 2 fill ups, so I doubt its bad fuel, maybe a faulty knock sensor. It's going to Ford Wednesday and I'll gladly pay my $100 deductible and hopefully its a warranty item and its at no cost. This ESP may be worth it already.

Dealer called and said I had 1 bad sparkplug and wants to change all 3 for $275. No thanks. I'll be picking it up today and replacing them myself for $30. They said that it may be the injectors or bad fuel (we have put BP 89 octane in the last 3 tanks now). I'll gladly pay another diagnostic fee of $109 if it acts up again and is the injectors because those are covered by my ESP. Likewise they said the injector recall goes live in September.

Replaced all 3 sparkplugs in 15 minutes, easiest that I have ever done. Much easier than the 16 on my Superduty.

Yes so far. I did a PCM relearn and KAM reset as well as reset the P130D DTC. Fingers crossed thats all it is.

Well new sparkplugs mitigated the problem for 1 week, amber wrench is back with same code. Going back to the dealer tomorrow.

That's too bad.

I don't know if this applies or not.

Unfortunately I've seen it take a week for all the PCM monitor's to update if you don't specifically perform the EPA drive cycle after a repair to know if a problem was addressed correctly or not.

Will be interesting to know what Ford says this time.

Dealer diagnosed it as a bad knock sensor. Tried to tell me it wasn't covered under my PremiumCare ESP. I told them it's under emissions......they ran it through the process and after my $100 deductible I headed home. They also told me to stop using additives, which I never have. I bought it from them 4k miles and 5 months ago, so not sure what the previous owner did.
