I was just quoted $500 at the dealership.
I ordered the fluid for $60 and I'm doing it myself.

there is no transmition pan, thats how you would do a filter change on any other normal trans. to do anything like service the strainer you have to split the transmition case which means it comes right out of the car.I'd ask around. I think a simple drain and fill isn't what they normally sell or might be new to them. The other person was trying to add on a filter change which would normally make sense except on the BS, I believe you have to drop the transmission pan or something. Either way, it's a LOT more work.
What did you see that the filter needs to be changed to keep the warranty? I don't remember seeing a filter change in the BS's service schedule or in the documents for my Ford ESP from Granger. I'll admit I didn't look too hard though. If you meant what I did , that is correct as I don’t have a multi thousand dollar flush machine in my shop. I did this on an escape before the bronco and did it on the first bronco thus far. And I would do it on this one if it wasn’t for keeping the warranty intact requiring a shop to do the service.
the argument should be simple, there is no filter in the transmition so how do you change it, its the same as a lot of the 2000's honda's and such, drain and fills were the normal maintenance.Correct. This bronco came with a third-party warranty and in order to keep the warranty the filter has to be changed. On my first bronco sport I changed the fluid myself and it wasn’t that big a deal and it’s certainly not worth 500, When all the tech has to do is hook it to a machine with virtually zero labor.
I plan to keep arguing with the warranty company that this vehicle does not require a filter and I’ll have to go to the flush route hipefully but somewhere cheaper than a dealer.
acording to my ford service manager there is no filter, just a screen. I guess you could call a screen a coarse filter though. There is a filter it’s just that it’s meant to be lifetime and not serviceable
AFAIK, the 8F35 remains unchanged for 2025. There were some cooling changes (for the Maverick), but that's all I could find.acording to my ford service manager there is no filter, just a screen. I guess you could call a screen a coarse filter though.
acording to the parts places the 2025 models do have filters that are servicable, did they change the trans for 2025 also?
Not sure … due to risk of damaging the transmission its seems highly unlikely the quoted price you were provided includes taking the 8F35 transmission out of the vehicle then taking the transmission apart to replace the filter screenOK, that’s more embedded than I even thought! That explains the high price I wouldn’t want to do that job either. I think I’ll do it myself at a regular intervals and then at the maintenance interval the warranty requires have a paid flush done.
