When I took delivery of my Bronco Sport on September 1, the tires had obviously been treated with some heavy duty tire dressing. They look like they were made of some kind of hard plastic instead of rubber. Fast forward to Monday and I washed it for the first time. As soon as they got wet, the tire dressing turned white.

I didn't think about taking a picture until I spent 20 minutes to get this far on one tire.

It some kind of oily substance that emulsifies when it gets wet. You can see the residue on the concrete.

You couldn't scrub and rinse it off, I had to wipe it off the tires and it took several cycles of spray with Simple Green, scrub and wipe.

Not a fan of this wheel design either. I like the overall design, but there are lots of indentations that you have to scrub dirt out of, or you leave a film behind when the wheel dries. It makes cleaning the wheels tedious.

My Bronco Sport is 1 month old. My dealer didn't detail it at all prior to delivery aside from wiping the windows down with a wet towel

I did read online that Continental tires in particular are known to turn white simply from washing. That oily residue you had is very peculiar, however.

It looks to me like the dealer may have simply used a towel that was "cross contaminated" with other wax type of products when they wiped down the tires. Thankfully you were able to remove it all with the Simple Green!

Looks great!

The Continental tires I had on the BS BB and now the Continental tires I have on the Maverick now that I traded the BS BB in for have never turned white after washing. :)

Reach out to the detail department at the dealership you purchased the Bronco Sport. That is what I did when I wanted to know about some of the things they had done in preparing my Bronco. In may case good.

I do NOT like when people put tire dressing on the tires & they look shiny. But then again, I like RWL.

RWL looks great in the right application, especially older muscle cars. I HATE shiny crap on wheels. A clean tire is a clean tire, and a tire with gloppy crap on it is NOT a clean tire.

Logic, it's logic people. :)

[RANT] Rubber should look like rubber, not plastic. Piano Black belongs on pianos, not cars. Chrome should be an accent, not the entire language. Driver's licenses should be at least as difficult to obtain as a passport, if not a pilot's certificate. Left lane camping deserves confiscation of the car. [/RANT]
