I've read that Ford specs make the GYs and Falken tires different than tire dealers. Ford specs make the tires compound for better ride, quiet and MPGs. I'd prefer the Ford specs but would a dealer really sell the Ford spec tire?

I have a hard time believing a tire manufacturer makes the same tire in two different specs, one for tire stores and another for Ford dealers. Check the model numbers. If they are the same, the tires are the same. There’s no way they are making two different tires with the same model number. That would be a nightmare for distributors.

It's not uncommon. It happens a lot.

It’s only one tire. The same tire is sold by discount tire and Ford. It’s just not the same design as the other tires in that same line. The Ford specified versions are lighter and quieter but do not look as aggressive.

That’s news to me. I have bought tires for my F150 from Discount Tire and my local Ford dealer and didn’t notice any difference in the way they rode. Dealer prices were actually cheaper which surprised me.

Manufacturers do it all the time for major customers. Look at Costco.

That makes sense to me.

Yes, Ford uses different specifications for the Falken Wildpeak AT3W, with the OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) version for the Maverick featuring a less aggressive tread and more rounded shoulders than the aftermarket version to improve noise reduction and fuel efficiency. Additionally, the size offered as an OEM option may differ in ply casing and overall weight from aftermarket sizes, with some OEM versions being a lighter SL (Standard Load) rated tire compared to the heavier LT (Light Truck) or XL (Extra Load) rated aftermarket tires.

So the bottom line is you will get the same OEM tire whether you buy from a Ford dealer or Discount tire if you specify an exact replacement for the original tires on your Bronco?

I tried calling my Ford dealer about a purchase cost late Saturday of a set but they were be busy and never called back. Will try again tomorrow. I prefer the Ford spec set.

yes, in that specific size 235/65-17 for the AT3w. Now with that being said, for the full size 315/70-17, Goodyear makes two versions both available at Discount tire but only the one that doesn’t say “wrangler” is available at Ford dealers for obvious reasons.

Discount tire had the At3w’s which was the same tire manufactures part number sold at Ford. It was being discontinued so I don’t know if they still have them.

I only see the regular AT3 at Discount Tire. Tire Rack has one at $147.

I just checked Discount Tire and they still have them. They are listed as an OEM tire for Ford. 166.00

So it's actually a Ford Spec AT3? I don't see anything about Ford. I have an appt at DT for an install of Yoko GO15s Tues but would rather have the Ford Spec ATW3.
