The new switch was the same part number but dated 2019. It's a different software architecture. I took my PCB out and transplanted it into the new buttons.

I've not seen the hose itself but could you simply slip a larger peice of pvc / fluid or air type tubing over the end of the existing one to extend and reroute without removing the old?

They are not the most comfortable but decent IMO. I asked a place around here that does custom interiors if they could put in denser foam, and they said they could not that it was just the way many cars come these days.
