Impatience, persistence, and annoyance, FTW. (Or plain dumb luck...)
Ford Bronco Sport Waiting room i-have-been-chosen-claw

Stopped by the dealer, he pulled up the order, VIN created, build week of 23 May.
I am so jealous that you ordered a few weeks ago and are scheduled and i ordered 8 weeks ago and radio silence.

Did you get all the packages? Those seem to be a continuing problem.
Long McArthur said this week they are out of BL Premium package, Assist+, and Moonroofs. He mentioned there was a queue of customer orders without any of those options being scheduled.

And now there’s a light at the end of the waiting room tunnel! Sales dude just phoned. Build date of 3rd week of May, just waiting on him to send me the VIN. Here’s hoping it works out to be the great vehicle I know it should be. Ordered 11/6, so even getting to this point has been a few months in times of chip shortages & everything else.

But I ordered BL, tow, 360+, PP, cargo, really everything but the moonroof. So I shouldn’t be the least bit surprised that any one single constraint would hold up my build. But here’s tho the car I plan on having a decade or more so we shall see.

We’ve been waiting long enough…I’m sure they’re holding on to some of the good stuff for us.

@Rgill sorry we lost you buddy!

Funny I stopped into another dealer yesterday and they had a stock order delivered exactly the build I had ordered except in black…3 customers all over it in the first 2 hours.

@Rgill

I think you covered my point, maybe better than I did. The Gladiator is not a comparable vehicle to the BS, even at the Badlands level. Just so you know, I did go to the Jeep website and look at what the cost was for something even in the ballpark of the BS. I concluded that you really can’t get much for your $40k in the Gladiator.

There are obviously other things that separate the Gladiator from the BS even if you got something that had comparable features. For one, it is larger and definitely has a stronger bias toward off-road. The BSBL is capable off-road but not on the same level as something like the Gladiator or Wrangler.

Congratulations on being able to get the vehicle you want without regard to price, although I’m sure that is still somewhat important just at a different level than most. You are also fortunate to not have to be concerned about the cost of fueling your vehicle. I would say that for me I am also pretty fortunate in that area but I’m also a cheapskate in a lot of ways. The difference between 20 mpg and 25 mpg can be felt but shouldn’t really be a decision maker for someone who buys a vehicle because they like it, instead of one who buys a vehicle because it is a commodity.

Like you, I also prefer unique vehicles. I also always personalize those vehicles to really make them “mine”. My list of unique vehicles is ‘98 Audi A4 Avant (stick and full leather), ‘03 MINI Cooper S, ‘09 VW Jetta Wagon, ‘12 VW Golf R, and hopefully sometime before winter ‘22 Bronco Sport Bandlands. I think we have that in common, to some extent.
03 mini cooper? Cool!!!! I had a 2000 Miata Special Edition for my smaller fun car back then. Have also had Pathfinder and a Landrover. I truly truly love the BSBL for all it is. I had it ordered in an incredible blue with the Ebony Roast interior with every single option. Ford just overly frustrated me out of my order which is sad. I had many plans for that BS. I still stalk this site because I do truly admire all that is Bronco Sport and I love the people here. The Jeep forum is great but can get a little “niche”. The BS forums is filled with those learning the ins and outs of a new model together. Who knows, when my FJ ages out (and at 96K miles she is still young) I probably will come back and look at the BS for everything it offers that the Gladiator does not. One of the great things we all have in common is a love of vehicles.

Sounds pretty much like what I ordered. Maybe I will get lucky and my build will also be in May? I would feel kind of guilty though, since it hasn’t even been a week since I ordered. So many here with such long waits.

I'm the guy who peppered him with BS questions during the Q&A. I think he may be a little off on 360+ being that much of a constraint since my dealership has 6 lot lizards coming with it and I got scheduled in 2 weeks with it. For those with multiple constraint items I fear that the system looks for all items available in order to schedule, so it may be a different item every week preventing scheduling. Every item takes its turn knee capping a build in a continual rotation. I'm really glad there was nothing in the premium package I couldn't live without.

Hope the Gladiator is working out well for you! Jeep does really put out a nice product with the Wrangler & Gladiator. I actually think they’d have a more formidable competitor too if they’d focus on one entry in the segment, instead it looks to me like they split their efforts between the Cherokee & Compass. Or maybe it’s just me who doesn’t understand the difference between them.

For you, I do hope you’re able to get it that soon! It’s been an unusual couple years so I largely give Ford a pass on the wait time. But honestly? If they truly want to move to a build to order model, and why not everybody should experience getting exactly what they want in a new car purchase, they’ll have to significantly improve the process & timeline. For build to order to be successful I think Rgill’s experience with Jeep would have to be the norm.

I just got off the phone with Ford Customer Service (the number that @thekingprawn gave) and they had my email wrong. That is now corrected. They also said that the Tow Package is a hold up right now. He said that removing the Tow Package could make delivery faster and that it could be added later. It is something I really want for a bike rack and maybe at some point actually pulling a trailer. He said that they are only able to fill about 35% of orders with the Tow Package at this point, because of some chip shortage issue. I guess that has something to do with the “sway control”?

Glad you got the email thing cleared up. Now onward to build and delivery!
