What oil is in a BS / 1.5L from the factory? My owner's manual mentions a synthetic blend or a full synthetic.
Should I assume the factory oil meets the warranty specs, and is, at a minimum, a synthetic blend? No Dino oil?

I’m running the ford motor oil for two oil changes. By 7,000 miles the engine is seated and broken in… first oil change at 2,500 - 3,500 miles. Second change at 4,000 - 5000 miles later so around 6,500 - 8,500 miles. On my badlands the vehicle on the dash shows the oil longevity as a percentage.

The Factory oil is Motorcraft that you can buy at any Ford Dealer or Walmart Carrie’s Motorcraft oil. It is semi synthetic. Or you can go Full Synthetic with Mobil 1 or Amsoil Synthetic.

The Motorcraft factory spec oil is the right oil for this wet timing belt motor and turbo. This oils additive package will hold past 7,500 miles but this engines enemy is the IN solution waste that is not stopped/filtered out by the oil filter.
That’s why I simply change my oil at 5,000 mile intervals when I rotate my tires.
$39 at Ford, can’t beat that deal anywhere. Plus if you need an antifreeze top off you get the right stuff.
Many run a more expensive Full synthetic for more miles between changes. That does not bode well with me. I’ll stick to what my Ford mechanic told me about getting the corrosive IN solution waste out of the engine sooner.

No right or wrong answers here, but my Ford mechanic who has serviced 2 of my F150 ecoboosts, 1 Raptor, 1 Mustang 5.0, and now my BS OB (all from day 1) swears by Motorcraft full synthetic @ 7500 mile intervals with no need to change the oil on a new vehicle any earlier. Note: Blackstone oil analysis reports support his theory
Again no right or wrong answers here just sharing 1 Ford techs opinion, but when in doubt follow your manuals recommended oil and filter change intervals using the proper fluids as shown :like:

Hmm, interesting. I just turned 3,000 miles and have been debating on whether to change the oil now or not.

im running whatever the dealer puts in. lots of warranty so it makes feel me warm and fuzzy inside.
i’ve also been changing the oil at 5,000 km intervals to keep things nice and clean. every second oil change is free at my dealership so that helps.

FWIW, Scotty Kilmer, a YouTube sensation, is informative and fun to watch.
He says the 1st oil change should be soon, to remove all the micro engine shavings / residue from the manufacturing process.
Then you can go longer between changes.
I've done like Osco mentioned earlier in this thread, and changed oil w/ tire rotation @ 5K, even though my Ford mechanic said the BS oil can go 10K.

Foghorn,
Why would you even think the Ford factory oil fill would not meet warranty requirements?

Nothing like an oil thread.

I decided to go with the 7,500 mile interval and am getting an oil change in a few days.
