Factory Engine Oil?

What oil is in a BS / 1.5L from the factory? My owner's manual mentions a synthetic blend or a full synthetic.
Should I assume the factory oil meets the warranty specs, and is, at a minimum, a synthetic blend? No Dino oil?

Ford specifies 5W20 oil that meets the API SP standard. I don't believe any supplier sells an oil of that grade which meets the spec and isn't at least semi-synthetic. The API SP spec is the same as the ILSAC GF-6, which has very specific performance requirements that are especially difficult to achieve with lower-viscosity oils.

Oil is one of those things I don't bother to think about. I don't have the tools to change it or even remove what needs removing to get to what needs to be removed to change the oil. Most likely the dealer will put in good oil at least until the warranty expires. Then they would want things to explode. Whatever happens its on the dealer to choose the oil.

I put my faith in the fordpass app that tells me the oil needs changing. Just checked it today, which is one week shy of 2 months and it says 96% so I think I am good for now. I do have about 420 miles on the badlands now though so I guess I need to start thinking about getting a new vehicle soon. It is a ford after all.

Full synthetic, or 100 percent synthetic oils, are usually extracted from crude oil or a byproduct of the same. In the case of Pennzoil, they have figured out how extract synthetic oil from natural gas.
So they’re all produced from Dino oil.
