I was lucky enough to find a bronco sport outer banks at my local dealer and due to all the excitement I over looked the fact that there was no tow hooks or hitch. From what I've been able to see getting a tow hitch isn't an issue, but getting tow hooks is something I can't really find much information on. Can someone help me and point me in the right direction?

The factory tow hooks on the Badlands attach to brackets which are either welded or bolted (can't remember) to the vehicle's unibody frame. This is important because the hooks may be required to take a pull higher than the vehicle's weight in a recovery situation. IIRC, the necessary brackets are not installed on vehicles without tow hooks, so you will either have to fabricate something yourself or wait for the aftermarket to do its thing.

This REALLY pisses me off. I didn’t even consider that a Bronco would not be sold with some form of recovery when I bought it. Then I got stuck in the snow and a dude in an old LandCruiser offered to pull me out, but there was nothing to hook up to. I had to dig it out. I’m still considering selling the BS because of this. It should at least have one of those holes in the bumper where you can screw a hook in, but that’s only on the back bumper, ?

This is exactly what I'm worried about getting stuck in a situation where I'll need the tow hooks and not have them!!

There are places to attach tow ropes to under any car including the Bronco Sport, they're just not as easy to get to as purpose-built recovery hooks.

If you watch Matt's Off Road Recovery YouTube channel you can watch him attach tow ropes to all kinds of different vehicles. There's one video of him pulling a Prius out of sand.

Awesome I'll definitely look into that that would be great to know!

I have watched his YouTube videos & something like a soft pull may not damage or tweak something , but if you're up to the Floor boards , you can still get to the Hitch & it is a preferred method , even to them , its the first thing they look for .

Yeah actually I did start watching and it definitely seems like he prefers to latch on to bigger parts of the car rather then tiny tow hooks.

I agree that a dedicated recovery hook or receiver hitch is best, but there are other options that don't necessarily have to result in damage. This video from Matt provides details.

I hadn't got around to watch that but I think that one helps kinda point to a decent understanding of what things you can carry in case you end up in a situation where you need to be recovered or even help someone who gets stuck even if it's in a few inches of snow
