So basically they told me that sometimes the financing from outside takes too long or the money doesn't come through. So it's easier to use FMC. A bunch of BS. They offered 2.5k over sticker price, I told them I'm better off just ordering and using X-plan with another dealership. They offered 2k over sticker and take off all the add ons which saves another 500 ??
Time to walk. Dealerships in some areas are having a field day with buyers willing to put up with all kinds of crazy shit just to buy a new car. The primary reason is because they know buyers are not willing to walk out the door when they're offered a bad deal. That's negotiation 101: Always be willing to walk.

My advice is to shop around online in other regions of the country. There is a dealership in Iowa that's offering new orders at 6% below MSRP. Th difference between what the dealership that's trying to screw you and 6% below MSRP is far more than travel expenses to Iowa.

This is a great point, and I have considered going after some of those deals out of state. Make the flight out and the drive the car back! Makes more sense money wise and it would be a nice road trip!

If the dealer won't give you a purchase order to take to your bank, you might as well walk. If they want to deal they will call you.
Check with other dealers to see if they will work with you and your terms.

Just got off the phone with finance guy, they dropped another $400 off out the door price but it still isn't where I want to be..I brought up just refinancing through my bank after I buy the car and he said he recommends waiting 6 months?? he also stated his manager is okay with excepting outside financing but the the price would be 5k over sticker price to "make up for the added risk"

I agree, if they're feeding this much B.S. prior to the sale, how much is one willing to put up with during potential future service visits?

I would walk away from a dealer who wanted $5k over sticker. I might ask him what risk on the way out the door.

Tell him to stop f***ing around or you walk. If he doesn't then you can be sure they already have a lot of other buyers lined up and you're not gonna get a fair deal there. Time to walk.

Yeah I told the salesman none of it makes sense, that I'm going to explore my other options. His reply was they did everything they could and to let them know if anything changes ? yeah the dealership I use is what's changing...

MJbronco,
Run dont walk away.
What is the interest rate difference between your bank and the Ford factory financing?
At the moment I wouldn't think bank financing would be any better than the current factory financing.

That's crazy. I did all the leg work myself on my financing with mine and drove the check over to them once my bank had it ready. Only paperwork my dealer had to do with me was DMV stuff. I'd ask to speak to the GM, something sounds fishy to me. I always go with my bank unless they can get me better numbers but so far I have yet to have any dealer beat my banks rates. If what this salesman is saying is true then If you walked in there with cash they wouldn't take it and we know that isn't true. I'd definitely ask to speak to the GM.

I'd definitely locate a new dealer. That place sounds shady as hell. What risk? How is instant money the same day a risk versus them waiting on financing to go through? ???

I’m glad you walked away and I hope Ford checks into this dealership.

Meanwhile, I’d recommend you call or stop by some “local” dealerships and get lucky like I did. I called 5 dealerships and told them what I was interested in and I got lucky with one 60 miles away. They said they had one coming. I picked up my ‘22 Area 51 outer banks Friday. They charged the MSRP, I handed them my check from the credit union, signed a bunch of papers, then drove away. It really should be that simple.

Edit: and to make sure MSRP was legit, I did a build on the Ford site. Exact to the dollar.

So I was in market for BS BB, wanted the Area 51 but the one in transit to dealership was spoken for (I'm assuming there was deposit on it). They had same vehicle just carbonized gray on the lot and we talked leasing but I ultimately didn't pull the trigger. I recently was pre-approved through my bank and the Area 51 that was previously spoken for is now available.

I talked to the guy at the dealership today and he said they wouldn't be accepting outside financing on this vehicle...doesn't make sense to me and feel like they are playing hard ball trying to push me towards Ford credit or possibly leasing through them.

Is this typical or are they giving me the run around, any thoughts on how I should proceed? This is the vehicle I want. Also, I qualify for X-plan pricing which they will only take on orders, which is understandable....but not accepting outside financing doesn't make sense to me.

Thanks for any help!
I wrote a check for my BSBL and the dealer computer could not figure it out. Ford was called to get some kind of code to change the computer to no finance.
