Any other goalies on the forum? Let's talk.

Here's an ad I put up a few years ago to get some more ice time.

Reformed tendy, I got sick of benders trying to prove how good they were by taking clappers that always ended up about head high in warm ups.

Nice looks like a good one, going right for the eye too. Always good when the catseye gets dented. I played from in net from like mites until I was 30. Concussions caught up to me a bit so I stepped out. I'm jonesing to get back in though. I'm a much better goalie than defensemen.

Ya, I had it happen twice. Those cats eye cages are expensive too. I got mine from a guy who makes them for the NHL, so, $200 each.

Well, I'm 61 and still playing. Well, not right now because I just had arthroscopic knee surgery to repair a torn meniscus, torn cartilage, and, premature arthritis. Same knee that I tore up 10 years ago (torn meniscus, torn ACL, torn PCL, tore my MCL in 2 pieces, dislocated kneecap, and, chunk of bone torn off my tibia as well). Played almost 300 games since the original injury. Taking the rest of this season off to rehab, and, looking forward to getting back in between the pipes again in the fall.

Here's my knee 1 week after the original surgery 10 years ago....

It is more boring and less cool but I can miss a game and I don't get shouted at if I don't get a sub so there's that up side.

Also don't mind chilling on the bench when my team is getting shelled.

Not a goalie either but have been a player for 35+ years. Best sport ever.

It is, I'm 36 and I play with a guy on my Sunday team whos seriously double my age. Not that hes at the same pace, why would he be, but we're competing, skating and chilling with the boys. It really is a great game.

In the past few years, when I was 54 I was playing with ex-KHL, and, ex-Russian junior players, as well as, draft pics. Then when I returned and was playing locally, they didn't have a spot in one of the local Rec leagues in the 'Classic' division, so, they asked me if I'd play in the 'Farm' division (under 30). I was 57 at the time.

Of course, I said I would and had an absolute blast for a couple of years with the quicker pace etc.
BUT, their mindset is different and I found I couldn't relate to their stories after a while, so, I moved on.

It's hard to tell whether there's a puck in his glove. Looks to me like he missed that one. Look at his eyes - where they are focused. They are not looking at his glove. He's looking at the one that got away or missed the net altogether. The pros are really good at tracking pucks visually.

Just my humble .02 though.
