Disclaimer - I have no advance knowledge and have a 2021 Badlands on order since 18 March that is not in, nor currently scheduled for production according to Ford Marketing.

I am beginning to have doubts that the Badlands model will be available for 2022.

What we do know:
New orders were shut down for the Badlands on 15 April 2021.
There was no apparent offer to eliminate the moon roof option on the Badlands as there was on the Outer Banks.
Many/most of the back orders that are being built and shipped seem to be OB or BB models w/o moon roof.
Other than the limited run of "First Edition' models, only the Badlands uses the 2.0 L engine.
Ford has been very quiet on why orders are so back logged other than to blame it all on "chip shortages".

Is the real culprit the 2.0L engine ?

I am anxiously awaiting the alleged 2022 order date of 30 August to see if I might ever get a Badlands with
a 2.0l engine or if I order another Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk.

There was actual discussion regarding available 2.0 engines so that may be a commodity issue. I too have little insight but I read a lot. All that I have seen goes along with what I've been seeing for a while. The chaos known as 2021 will yield a more cautious approach for MY22. I am guessing fewer colors, fewer options, but more configuration and less constraint like the moon roof. I feel available trims will allow more personal choice with fewer options trying to limit commodity constraints.

I can’t see Ford discontinuing the Badlands. As far as I can tell it the most popular Sport model sold……must be supply issues
Not a chance they discontinue the badlands. May be a while before you can get one and if the 2.0 is an issue, doubt they spread that across other trims. The 1.5 seems to be their option.

I don't know where you are located, but Autotrader is showing quite a few Badlands (new & used) for sale throughout the country. Some priced well, some overpriced.

The maverick has the 2.0L engine option to so all those orders would be in trouble to for anyone choosing the non hybrid maverick engine.

I got another Toyota this past week and will trade in a year or two for a badlands hopefully. Got tired of the games and no answers from ford or the local dealers not knowing anything. Really poor experience and no one knows what's going on.

Ford is missing out on a lot of money and is stonewall silent on what's going on. My wife is ready to get a BL/BL with everything except towing and I'm sure she's not the only one. If someone would tell us the truth about whats going on then waiting on the car we want won't be so bad. The wife may change her and keep her Edge Titanium and others will probably buy another brands car. Ford get your heads out of the sand and tell us what's going on with out the cooperate BS.

I would like to see that 2.3 stuffed under that hood. They can figure it out . Badlands Super Sport , What do you all think?

I'm hoping they permanently remove the moonroof from the BB/OB/BL packages and make it a standalone option like the Escape. How many of us had our orders held up because we opted for one of the packages and got stuck with a moonroof?

I'd also like to see power/heated seats/leather steering wheel standard on the BB and up. Those are the only things I'm getting the BB package for and it'd be nice to just have them without needing to get a bunch of other options I don't necessarily need.

Lol you can keep your heated seats/steering. (signed ice cold northern guy) I had it standard on the dodge, never used it. Having it standard wouldn't be a big deal.
JRL the 2.3 is for the bronco. Based on hints my buddy dropped, the sport and bronco aren't the end of this. Dealers aren't opening Bronco segments for two vehicles if you think about it. Sport will be what it is. Entry level, easy to make EV/hybrid which could be appealing with more ev charging infrastructure. But the bigger motors could end up in another line down the road, think bigger than the 2.3/2.7

The 2.0 and 2.3 use the same block but 2.3 has longer stroke crankshaft. So externally the engines are both the same physical size. But if Ford offered a 2.3 in the sport they would have to beef up the drive train a little more to handle the extra torque. But they could offer a higher more aggressive trim above Badlands for more money with the 2.3 and buyers would line up. Maybe 2024? Bronco Sport Raptor version?

Makes sense but is that a good strategy? To me if I'm going for a higher sport why not just get a base bronco and add all the extras. I just see the sport as the entry level bronco. The next levels will likely fit above the bronco. Pure guess.

Exactly my point a badlands super sport . Our bronco as it is , is faster than a standard bronco is right now .

Ford already options the 2.3L in the Lincoln Corsair (same as the Escape)
The HP is lower than the reg 2.3L, 290ish if I remember right and the BL rear unit is good for 350HP so it's mostly figured out. I don't need it as the 2.0L is stout but I'd sure want it.

Please no SS Chevy designations.
