Has anyone installed a dash cam yet? I'm looking for suggestions. I want 3 cams, front, rear and cabin. Thanks!

I really like the BlackVue dash cams. I’ve been running a front and rear in my F150. Blend mount makes a cool mount for the rear view mirror. My Sport hasn’t arrived yet but that will be one of the first things on my list to do.

Thanks for the response. That is a nice camera. That's the profile I am looking for for that area directly below the plastic trim piece in the center of the windshield. I'll need to find similar ones with that profile that is more in the range of my budget.

I just finished installing a Garmin Mini Dash Cam in the rear window in my Badlands.

and a Rexing V1 dash cam behind the mirror on the windshield. Ignore messy garage.

Both camera's videos can be viewed over apps on phone. The Rexing has it's own screen for viewing also.

The rear facing Garmin is powered by the usb port in the rear which powers on/off with ignition. Garmin also has a small battery that continues to record for about 30 minutes after shutdown. Unfortunately the battery gives Garmin an operating temperature only from -4 F to 140 F. I've used battery dash cams from -30 F to 150 F and the only issues I've seen is poor or missing video until the camera warmed up.

I used a coiled Micro USB cable with a USB A extension so the rear window and rear hatch could open without the usb cable being damaged or getting in the way.

Rexing uses a super capacitor which gives it an operating Temp of -20F to 176F and is powered through the BS fuse block. I'll be posting directions on getting at the fuse block also in the electronics installation thread. It wasn't as easy without directions as it should be and I almost cut a couple wires in a wire loom trying to do it.

I had no problems hiding the USB wiring behind panels without detaching them. I also was able to easily run the wires along the door gaskets. I used a nylon tire tube changing tool from my bike to pry panels apart enough to hide the wires.

The Rexing was $100 and the Garmin was $93 on Amazon

Good job! I didn't realize the rear usb powered down when the ignition was off. Knowing this, it gives me some better options for the rear camera. When able, Can you post a picture facing the windshield from outside? I'd like to see the footprint. It looks relatively discrete. Thanks!

A little hard to see with reflections.

I get great 4K vids with this cam in this position and can't see it behind mirror while I'm driving.

I also just posted my fuse block access directions if you're going to power your cam through it.

Thanks for the pic! It looks really good. My base apparently doesn't have a usb port in back, just a cigarette lighter like port.

Actually mine is too I just used a USB adapter for the Cig Lighter port. Both cameras came with an adapter.

How does the rear camera power wire look where you connected the power? Interested on how you hid it. Thanks!

Has anyone else installed a dash cam in their BS? Are you just running it while driving or have any of you hardwired it?

Garmin 66w (60fps upgraded to this after a head on hit and run accident with a merge of over 100mph my previous camera didn’t get the car that hit me was 30fps ) in the front hardwired with a parking cable

Garmin 45 in the rear window. Not hardwired.

I always park with the front camera facing the road. (Had a hit and run against my last vehicle before I hardwired the dash cam in it )

If anyone comes acrossed a brand name dash cam with 120fps or better let me know as I would like one

I went with the THINKWARE one. The front one was easy to hide the wires. The rear cam will be a challenge to route the wires through the wire sleeve from the body to the lift gate. If anyone has any ideas for a clean installation, please let me know, thanks!

My BL came with a very dark tint, which is very nice for keeping it cool, but made rear visibility an issue. I installed blind spot mirrors and a Vantop H612 dashcam, it has a rear cam with video screen mounted over the rear view mirror. Also helps fill in the gaps from my backup cam being partially obscured by a bike rack. Can give details on install if anyone is interested.
