A friend of mine sent me a picture from Costa Rica. The picture shows a Chery iCar 03. Sold in most of the world except N. America.

If I could, I would consider buying one of these. The quality issue with Chinese built vehicles is a moot point after owning a BS. Could not be much worse.
I would have trouble with the political decision to buy a car made in China.

In some countries, this car is sold for the same price as the taxes I paid on my BS. /s

The video's show Tesla style door handles. I guess they will change.

Does this vehicle resemble the "rugged " and "boxy" design of the Bronco and Bronco Sport?

The Canadian government recently announced that China will be able to export 50,000 electric vehicles into Canada as part of a deal that will lower Chinese tariffs on Canadian products.

Will Canadians be able to drive these vehicles into the US ? Are Chinese electric vehicles being made in Mexico and if so, are they being allowed into the US ?

Is the North American auto industry on the verge of change ?

So you are going to buy a car with no long-term history of longevity, no place to repair it and difficulty getting parts. I've seen a couple of videos last year where people bought Chinese cars and they looked below the surfaces to see what isn't readily visible. They were disappointed in the shoddy materials and workmanship. JD Powers and Drive Authority survey Chinese made vehicles and report that much of the Chinese car industry has improved substantially over the last ten years but still lags somewhat behind US and European cars in quality and repairs. The Chinese government is stepping in to improve design and quality. They just banned hidden/flush door handles.

Cars bought and licensed in Canada and Mexico are allowed to drive into and back out of the US. At this time I don't think any new vehicles can be sold in the US unless certified by the DOT although some cars built in China are sold here but are US or European manufacturers like the Buick Envision. And Chinese cars sold here would need to meet US safety and environment regulations which would increase the costs.
