I know there have been a lot of threads about coolant leaks for the ‘21-‘24 1.5L engine, with some people having multiple replacements of the water pump without a fix. There are also some thoughts that material left over from engine block casting is causing the leak, and that a coolant flush is required before replacing the water pump. However, there have been posts from others reporting that they are still having leaks even after flushing.

I believe the latest revision of the water pump (as of this writing) is HX7Z-8501-C, which was released sometime in Fall 2025. Most of the posts I have seen on here about repeated coolant leaks predate this latest water pump revision.

So my question is: does the latest water pump revision (rev C) fix the coolant leak issue? Has anyone who has had their water pump replaced with this latest version experienced another leak?

Thanks!

We had our 3rd water pump installed at about 35,0000 miles. No reason to believe it won’t happen again.

Do you know if you received the “rev C” water pump? Keeping my fingers crossed for you that it won’t leak again!

Sorry, I do not know the answer. Is the "rev c" preferred?

There have been 3 revisions of the water pump so far, with the assumption that each revision is improving upon the previous design. The latest water pump revision is HX7Z-8501-C, which was released sometime in the Fall of 2025. So my hope is this latest revision might actually fix the recurrent leak, but only real world experience will confirm if it is a true fix.

If you still have the work order from your most recent water pump replacement, you should be able to see the part number of the water pump that was installed. If it ends in “C,” you have the latest version.
