I picked up my 24 Bronco Sport from the dealer in the beginning of Sept. It currently has 8000 miles on it and was at the dealer for an extended period prior to picking it up while they worked on a couple or rattles near the A pillar. They got the rattles out but while it was in the shop they did TSB 25-2143 which is for the brake moan noise when driving in reverse. The service writer said that the technician thought he heard something coming from the rear brakes. Since new I never experienced the moan noise and did not ask the dealer about the TSB's related to the brake moan noise.

I noticed shortly after getting the BS back an intermittent bang noise from the passenger side rear wheel like something had shifted and hit the car. Then I also noticed a bang noise from the driver side rear wheel that sounded like something kicked up from the road but nothing was there. Also after the single bang a noise was transmitted to the rear axle. I did bring it back to the dealer and they could not find anything wrong. After a couple of days the bang noise mostly stopped but now I get it occasionally which could be a week or more apart. The last time it happened was on 10/24 after pulling out of the driveway and than going forward for about 100 ft. It sounded like I hit something but again nothing in the road. It is at the dealer now but they have not heard the noise so nothing for them to do.

Has anyone experienced anything similar after having the rear brake moan noise TSB done? I am sure I am going to get the car back without the dealer finding anything and I am going to have to try videotaping when I start out but the noise is not so infrequent and random it will only be luck if I catch the noise on video.

What do you mean bang noise? Like is it a loud thud? Is the car jerking? What speeds?

A loud sudden metallic bang like something snapped or hit the underside of the car coming from the rear wheel followed by a more tinny metallic noise reverberating through the axle near the wheel. It is a single bang like when an old style garage door spring snaps. It is not a noise you can miss when it happens but unfortunately it is a single bang when it happens and there is no pattern that I can point to say it happens when you drive over a bump, etc. The last time that it happened, about a week ago the weather was clear, I was going forward about 15 - 20 mph after backing out of my driveway. There was no debris in the street and after moving forward about 100 ft there was the loud bang from the driver side rear wheel one time. It has not happened since so very difficult to figure out what is going on other than the only thing that changed is the TSB 25-2143 was done so I believe it has something to do with that but so far the dealer does not see anything wrong with the brakes.

I have had the moan issue occur a few times when backing out of the driveway. Not sure what it is, but is very infrequent.

I'm thinking that perhaps whatever you are hearing may not be related to performing of the TSB 25-2143 at all - it just happened to start at that time. Also, I wonder if there is a correlation between where you are driving and the time you hear the noise.

I agree that it is possible that it is just a coincidence and may not have anything to do to with the TSB. As far as where I am driving initially it seemed to happen when I was making a turn at an intersection from a stop or went over an uneven strip in the road like where an asphalt road meets with a cement section of the road but the last time there was nothing in the road and the road was flat and smooth. The only thing that happened the last time was that I was in reverse backing out of the driveway but I was going forward about 15-20 mph and was a bout 100 ft from where I started to move forward.

I would take the moan issue over what I am dealing with now.

Hmmm. I'd start then with busted motor mount, loose or broken exhaust hangers - stuff like that. If you had someone install a rear hitch, they may have left something hanging. That happened to me.

This stuff can drive one nuts. On my big Bronco, I have a super annoying vibration-induced tailgate rattle/thump that I haven't figured out yet. I feel your pain.

Thank you, Yes this is stressing me out because there is no pattern to tell the dealer if you drive a certain way you should be able to hear the bang in the rear. I told the dealer yesterday to just give me the car back because I knew from the Ford App that they have been driving it but not hearing anything because it would get parked in the parking lot but the dealer wanted to keep it for a few more days. I did get a chance to talk to one of the Formans. Hopefully he can figure something out.

Had the same thing happen on a previous Escape. Dealer kept giving me the runaround until odometer hit 35,000 and I told dealer to fix it or you own it under Lemon Law rules- three strikes and you are out. Entire rear end was replaced. Mechanic told me clutches were hanging up and resulted in clunking and banging. Problem solved. Dealerships will keep putting you off because Ford will not pay them their outrageous hourly rates when under warranty.
