24 OB, 1 year on the road, ~7k miles.

I generally turn off ASS 80% of the time. During winter it did not work (yay) , but when it became warmer, it just occasionally worked.
I took to dealer for oil chg and asked them to check the battery. They said it was a little 'low' and they were charging it for me.
And actually the service advisor told me i had an AGM - really? I was happy but wondered why it was low. I recently checked, and no, it says EFB.

After, i continued to turn ASS off when i remembered but the other day the AC started blowing warm and i realized i didn't turn it off.
It's true that the longest i drive is 25 mins, mostly freeways but don't drive everyday, so i may not be 'charging' it enough?
But is this acceptable??
How can i get the recall? Bug the dealership- or is there another avenue?

Pick a different dealership if you can. Bring a copy of the procedure which (and I could be wrong) says to check if an EFB is installed and if so replace with an AGM. The original issue was against chinese made EFB but many owners reported the dealership simply checked for any EFB and replaced with an AGM

This post states:

“Ford's remedy isn't even to check that the battery is from Camel (chinese battery). The remedy is just to pop the hood, check for an AGM, and if it isn't an AGM replace it with an AGM battery”

I have just the opposite problem, seems like every dealer in the area wants to send their mobile tech out to do it to mine. It has the EFB but works just fine thank you very much.

If you can get a free AGM battery from Ford why not, especially if the current battery already has done a year or more of service. It's not everyday that a manufacturer gives something away of decent value.

I probably will at some point. It’s coming up on 3 1/2 years old. Just seems like they screw more stuff up than they fix.

Ford mobile service came out and replaced the battery. Took all of 10 minutes. My dealer called yesterday basically begging me to let them do it via the mobile van. I live rather close so I said I can just drop it off some time as it’s been working fine. He told me Ford gives them more money if done using the mobile service van. Now I understand why every dealer within 50 miles has been pinging me about it.

I had the opposite opposite experience. They wouldn't send the mobile tech out and I had to bring it in. Little extra hassle but all they managed to screw up extra was not put the positive terminal cover on. Ford, knowing the dealer techs well, cleverly adhered the cap to the body with a tether so I was able to fix that myself upon discovering it.

I hear they have to do a tiny bit of programming to switch the back end charging scheme from EFB to AGM. My dealership refused to do anything 'programming' with mobile service and wanted the car in house if they mucked that up. I wonder if they programmed yours or mine at all?

No programming to go from EFB to AGM other than the normal battery management system Reset which is posted on this forum

The mobile tech that installed my AGM Battery didn’t bother to do the Reset so I did it myself

I've read that you can select a charging scheme (AGM or EFB) using Forscan. The battery reset will cause the system to effect that change by itself?

He did the battery reset. That took more time than swapping it out including removing the air box.

I’m not sure where you read about using Forscan to select a charging scheme (AGM or EFB) .. can you find that info and post it?

The Bronco Sports battery management system works seamlessly with either EFB or AGM Batteries (but of course AGM Battery is preferred)

The factory shipped Bronco Sports with one or the other battery

And after changing out for a new battery it is recommended (and documented in the owners manual) to run the battery management system reset procedure .. see the CHANGING THE 12V BATTERY Section.

Somewhere I read that the battery management system will learn on its own after 8 hours or so meaning it’s not strictly necessary to run the battery management system reset procedure

You’re not the first person here that said the tech left the red cap off the terminal. I had to replace mine too when the dealer tech left it off.
A mobile tech came out when they had the original battery software update recall, apparently didn’t do it right, so I had to take it in later for the recall to fix the original recall. I did the reset both times because I don’t trust they were done, then again after I got the battery swap recall. Should be getting paid…

Example of the Maverick guys talking about it. They have the same issues as the Bronco Sports- shipped from factory with incorrect battery due to parts shortages.
