Dashboard randomly lit up on my Sunday and lost all power. Then through turbo charger warning.
Luckily the turbo itself is still ok, $600 repair though.
Really no notice on the failure or nothing I had noticed. Though I don’t know a lot about turbos, but definitely not a fan of them.

Did your Sport have code P0299, there have been others that had the same problem. At least your Sport is back to normal now.

I’m pretty sure that was the code. Haven’t gotten the car back yet though

Another thing that can cause lack in power is the cylinder deactivation solenoid, some have had the solenoid stick in the deactivation mode, which also effects turbo boost pressure and therefore no power. The error code for that is P3402. Good luck in round 2 with the dealer.

So dealer couldn’t reproduce it going into to limp mode. But said they found 225 counts for the brake override pid
Does that mean I’ve been resting my foot on the brake when I’m in cruise control?

Next time tell them you like using the Bronco Sport for drifting

But seriously ask for the specific PID(s) as there might be more than one

do you use both feet for driving or rest a foot on brake pedal while in cruise control?

The following info likely is not 100% correct so wouldn’t read too much into it

Typically if you press the brake pedal when using cruise control the cruise control will turn off.
I have read the Sport and some other Ford models will go into a reduced power (limp) mode if the gas and brake pedals are pressed at the same time. Maybe those 225 brake override PID codes are the answer.

Actually after viewing the part the dealer changed, I’m definitely going back in there tomorrow for an explanation for more then $400 labor for a part I could have done myself in 10 minutes.

Finally good it troubleshooted correctly. Wastegate actuator on the turbo was sticking. Unfortunately you have to change the entire turbo assembly. Dealer wanted $4,300 to do the work, I declined and went with another mechanic and got it done for $1600
