New recall 2025-281 in Canada for 2025 Bronco Sports both 1.5L and 2.0L engines

Just saw this new recall notice on the Government of Canada motor vehicle safety recalls database website. Not sure if it's Canada only.

2025-281

Issue: On certain vehicles, the engine block heater could overheat when the block heater is plugged in. Note: This recall only affects certain vehicles equipped with a 1.5 L or 2.0 L engine and a factory-installed block heater. Safety Risk: An engine block heater and/or wiring that overheats or melts could create the risk of a fire. Corrective Actions: To reduce the safety risk, Ford advises you not to plug in the engine block heater until the recall repairs have been completed. Ford will notify owners by mail and advise you to take your vehicle to a dealership to replace the engine block heater element. The dealer will also inspect and, if necessary, replace the block heater electrical cord.

It's available for the entire US market. I live in the Phoenix area and it was available. Related, many of the local Ford dealers' F-series trucks come with the block heater whether you want it or not; the only way to get it without is by ordering instead of taking something off the lot.

Perhaps for your 2025 but was not available to order even as an extra cost option in AZ when I ordered the 2022 which made no sense

I didn't find a block heater on my '25. Not much demand in a hot tropical climate.

Kind of an odd thing to add later in a series’ life. Maybe because of the new 2.0? I’ve just never seen such a basic thing not available from the get go.

This shows in my FordPass app's Recall section and the dealer contacted me today to get me to come in. I know I didn't specify a block heater and it's not on the spec sheet. Maybe it is just a default component here in Canada? Getting more details from dealer tomorrow.

Seems like it comes with the BS in Canada at least. Who knew? That road trip to Manitoba is officially back on! Unlikely to need it here in beautiful BC.
