Does this sound bad? Badland sounds like diesel truck and scrapping noise.

Has anyone experienced this? I drive a 21' Badlands. Bringing it to the back to the dealership (was a trade in at a hyundai) so I'm trying to pinpoint where the issue could be. It sounds like l'm driving a diesel truck when idling and also maybe some sort of scrapping sound too?? Can kind of hear it when I'm accelerating and letting go. Sounds like its coming the driver side wheel potentially. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

For Context. I would hear the noise loud while accelerating. Letting go of the acceleration while cruising I still hear it but more dim and apparent. And while pressing brakes, about the same until I completely stop and don't hear it anymore. It seems to only happen when I am moving with the car. And it sounds like its coming directly from the front, and even more specifically in the front left wheel possibly.

The electronic direct fuel injectors are quite noisy if you open up the hood to listen. But, you can not really hear them with the windows up.

Aside from a weird noise when you release the brake I don't hear anything unusual in this video. The problem with posts like this is describing noises. Everyone has a different idea of what "scraping" or "diesel" sounds like.

What would be more helpful is for you to describe precisely WHEN you hear these noises. Accelerating? Braking? Slow? Fast? Cruising? Then describer WHERE you hear the noise coming from. Front? Back? Left? Right?

My suggestion is you get to a local dealer and ask to take a different Badlands for a test drive so you can directly compare the noises. If there is a significant difference then you have something to discuss with a service tech.

Try disconnecting the manual park release cable from the top of the transmission. On early '21's it can carry some odd transmission noises into the cabin.

What you describe could be a bad CV joint or worn out wheel bearing. Have you climbed under and looked? These links might provide some clues.

Has it just started making this noise recently or has it made the noise since you purchased it?

It could be you are hearing the noise of the turbo, this could be a new sound to you if you came from a non-turbo engine.

I second the recommendation of Mark S. to return to the dealer and request test driving a new BS equipped the same as yours to evaluate how it sounds compared to yours. This is the only way to verify whether or not there is any issue with yours.
