I purchased a new 2022 Ford Bronco Sport in Richmond VA in August 2022. We have enjoyed driving it for 45,000 miles. The left front signal stopped working and I contacted Richmond Ford. I was told the whole lighting housing would have to be replaced at a cost of $2800. This is ridiculous. I can't afford this. What are my options.

Thanks
Ernie

Headlamps are not serviceable and if failed have to be replaced as a unit. Other owners had this done for around $1,500 which while about half the cost of your quote is still far too much.
You could try getting a working headlamp assembly from a salvage yard, Amazon or ebay but then have to pay for installation.

Only 45k miles!

This link is from an owner that had the headlamp assembly replaced but no details were provided.

The manufacturers are trying their damness to screw the DYIers every chance they get
Combination of wanting owners to utilize the dealer network for service; the demands of the consumer for more options, and the demands of making the car safer for drivers and pedestrians. Very little the owner that likes to do the work themselves can do these days.

I live in an upstairs apartment now, but when I have my own place again, I'll be doing my own LOFs

Check online for a replacement headlight, Ebay used or other Ford sources.

Depending on your skills you may be able to replace it yourself.

On my PreiumCare 7 year, 75K mile extended warranty I added the Interior/Exterior lighting rider for $50. It covers all bulbs.

If you plan on keeping the BS consider buying an extended warranty through Granger Ford.

Your quote of $2800 is $1000 more than I paid for the whole warranty.

For sure. There's little that a backyard mechanic can do any more other than the basic stuff, oil & fluid changes, filters and plugs.

That's the reason I always buy a factory extended warranty. Just piece of mind for me. Will it pay for itself, I actually hope it doesn't get to that point.

$2800 If that's for just the headlight assembly is $1000 over the prices listed online at FordParts.com
Your best bet is likely Ebay for a used replacement.

It's the part cost perhaps, and not a DIY'er issue. I'll save on labor costs whenever I can do the repair myself, but the new part cost is something I can only shop around for to see if I can save.

My vote is to check out a local bone yard (salvage yard).

I purchase mine through Zeigler for my last 2 Fords. There are a few dealers online that sell the Ford ESP plans if you want to compare but if I recall they were all within $50 of each other. One thing I liked about Zeigler was how easy it was to get a prorated refund if you needed to cancel the ESP plan. It is clearly listed on their website. In my case I only had my 23 Escape for 6 months and traded it in for my Bronco Sport. I only lost $200 on cancelling the contract.
Usually the dealer where you are purchasing will not or can not match the price of the on line dealers.

Keep in mind that to install the assembly the whole frontend will have to come off. Labor costs will be very large piece of that.

Used to LOVE going to salvage yards back in the 70s & 80s FREE fuses and hardware!
