I was torn between the Firestone AT/2'S but decided on the weatherpeaks. They look almost as aggressive as a All terrain minus the noise and added weight. I don't go off road often but more than the average person I suppose. I do tow a lot with my BS. These should hold up pretty well for my needs. They seem really quiet and have tons more grip in turns. About 1k miles on them so far. A good tire for someone wanting more but not as much as a ALL terrain tire.

It looks like you'll get some great snow performance out of those, too.

I don't know about "great", I suppose it depends on where you live and how much snow you get. Here in Western NY, I'd be parked a few days with anything less than an All-Terrain tire

With the sipe design it looks like it emphasizes snow traction perhaps in an all season compound without going to a full Blizzak snow tire compound.

I recently had Bridgestone ALENZA AS ULTRA tires installed - they also have a good snow/wet rating for an All Season tire. Just under 40,000 miles on car. I used to do Blizzaks on a second set of wheels (on cars I had before), but between our two family cars, that gets expensive. I have a 70+ mile round trip commute to work - and have kids to haul to their events - so I needed something that didn't give up gas mileage and was quiet. We will see how it goes in a few months. I do notice that my speedometer is slightly off from what it was before. In my daily travels, I pass thru some of those electronic speed sighs - my digital speedometer always matched these signs exactly - now my cars speedo is about a mile an hour faster than the sign at about 35 mph. So maybe the diameter of these tires are slightly smaller than the OEM Continentals. Tires are the same size going by the sidewall info. The OEM

Continentals drove fine most of the time, but they were awful in rain or snow.

If all he's doing is "street driving", he should be fine

I put these on my '22 OBX at Costco 10 days ago. They replaced my Michelin Primacys. Tires only had 9500 miles on them, but 2.5 weeks ago, I drove over 4 roofing nails that had fallen into the roadway. The nails were side by side making the tire un repairable. Since most advise buying tires in pairs, I opted to start over with new rubber all around. I chose the Bridgestones because they were on sale and had the snow rating that the Michelins didn't.

Costco includes a 5 yr road hazard warranty on all the tires they install.
