Gotcha, I have had a pretty decent relationship with this dealer, but I understand what you are saying.

The clutch shudder is a problem that Ford and the dealerships refuse to acknowledge because they don’t have a fix for it. They tell you that it’s just how the Bronco runs , nothing unusual. Well that’s not the truth. Mine didn’t start doing it until I put over 16000 miles on it. Just an excuse for them not to deal with it. I guess they don’t care about their customers.

I definitely feel it on low speeds with mine as well. As I mentioned in another thread, it can also happen under certain scenarios at higher speeds but low RPMs, like when on a slight decline.

I've driven Ford Escapes, Transits and Explorers as my work vehicles and here's a transmission thing I've noticed in all the vehicles (and occasionally in my BS too):

After driving at highway speeds for a while (like more than an hour) , exiting the highway, then stopping at a light or stop sign, the transmission slips/shudders a bit while accelerating from 1st to 2 gear. It doesn't always happen, but it's a little jarring when it does.

For my bronco sport, I'm not concerned, because it rarely happens (like twice in 18k miles) and I haven't noticed transmission issues in other situations, other than what I described.

The Transit, on the other hand, actually had a bad transmission that had to be replaced at around 80k miles, but the shuddering and rough shifting happened all the time, not just accelerating from a stop. And... Now that the transmission was replaced, all is good, except it still occasionally shifts roughly between 1st and 2nd after driving on the highway for awhile.

I’ve been running in the sport mode and have better shifting (but slight lurch), better gas pedal and engine response. I’ve noticed that it running with a higher rpm. Does rpm tach does jump when it shifts. Was thinking of trading it in for a Toyota or some other foreign model, not sure yet. I’m a life long Ford buyer and just can’t believe that Ford and the dealership treat their customers like we are crazy and tell us that there’s nothing wrong with the vehicle! They need to take responsibility for the problem and come up with a fix or loose customers!!!!!

I’m having a transmission shudder at 30-40mph and again at 50-60mph. They replaced the torque converter, it took 2 1/2 months to get the part. They said it was all fixed but the shudder is still there. Anyone else had this problem and what did they do to fix it?
I have a 2022 Badlands Sport. Transmission was making winding sounds, with some motor hesitation. Two weeks after buying vehicle I took it in to dealer. Dealer said I was too sensitive and the sound would fade as time went on. At just over 16k miles, the vehicle ran fine, but would not move the in gear or reverse.
Weird errors on Ford App “Gear selected will engage at low speed.” Towed to closest dealer by policy,
I won’t get into my experiences with dealerships and will only say that they are independently owned and only done seem to reflect Ford’s image of customer service, while quality of mechanics also vary. Highly recommend that you find a dealership that is , to the point, has integrity and seems to care about the work they do.
Finally got it to a dealership that specialized in transmission. many additional error codes and messages in Ford App.
After considering the combo or error messages, non movement of vehicle and finding metal in the fluid and filter, they made the call to replace the transmission and it would be covered under powertrain warranty. And considering it had been a time consuming fiasco to finally get it to a competent dealership, they indicated that if there were delays in getting a new transmission, they would install a transmission from an existing vehicle on sales lot.
it took a only 1 week to receive the new transmission and they had it installed and tested in two days.
It’s driven great for the past 10k miles.
I have 2 dealerships within ½ hour, one of whom actually charged me for a maintenance visit that is covered under the normal warranty (which I did not even realize until I had maintenance done at honest dealership and was perplexed that they didn’t charge me) and they had no air filter and failed to put the original filter back in correctly, and could not put the cover back on using all the clips.
When I called them on it, they denied and I finally sent photos, and they indicated they would talk to the mechanic. This and other indications of carelessness are signs to avoid such dealerships.
The one I trust is Andersen Ford in Kingman, because they have been honest and exhibited competence and a sense of customer service, although it’s 1 ½ hours from me, it’s worth the drive.
Unfortunately Ford doesn’t really seem to have a way to ensure dealerships reflect the values that Ford Corporate portrays, and based on the support corporate provided in the madness, I do think it is a sincere value of Ford Corporate.

I recently had to come to terms with whether to keep my faith in Ford, or sell the vehicle for something that has better record of reliability. I’m older and I’ll retire with this vehicle.
I decided to keep it because it really is a nice vehicle. But in making that decision I felt it prudent to purchase Fords extended warranty, despite having a third party extended warranty.
Beware to people that don’t buy cars all the time- Another BS tactic of she dealerships is to sell a 3rd party extended warranty to naive people who assume any extended warranty Ford dealership would offer at purchase Would be a Ford warranty.
The amount I paid for the 3rd party warranty was outrageous, especially because it was financed. Whether I can cancel it and be prorated unused portion I am trying to find out.
I have learned many things in my experiences since purchasing the vehicle.

Who is the dealership that you don't trust? This would be helpful for others reading this thread to avoid them.

Report issue to NHTSA. I have the same problem!!! I just reported the issue. If everyone reports the issue a recall should be issued

Two dealers, two different transmission specialists at both and my 26K mile 2023 Heritage Limited still shifts rough at low speeds primarily (20-45mph or so).

I've had it documented as well but no fix, they keep telling me they can't find anything and have reprogrammed it twice.

I also have frequent yet intermittent issues with the Sync system, keyless entry and stereo, too.

How would one go about this? I think this is my next step.

All of these issues on a brand new vehicle is beyond frustrating. When the warranty is up at 36K miles there will be a Heritage Limited in Yellowstone getting traded for something but not another Ford. I'm not interested in anything the Blue Oval makes until they can get these recalls and issues under control- but I'm not holding my breath.

Quality is most certainly not Job One anymore.

Are you sure your problem is torque converter shudder?

I have experienced torque converter shudder and this was my solution.

Interesting "fix" of sorts.

I'm a bit leery of the Marvel Mystery Oil, Stop-Leak, etc additives generally speaking but there is something to the research you did on the trans and torque converter and how GM handled it.

End of the day, I really can't tell what the issue is, just that it shudders. Looking through these threads would indicate a torque converter issue and will give me something to speak to the dealer about... but there's not been any codes or CELs thrown.

You could spend thousands at the dealer or do what I did.

Sure could but I'd rather have them deal with the transmission issues while under warranty then unload it as soon as the warranty goes up on something else.

Rant time. TL/DR- $46K for this was about $10K too much.

Ford's bean counters ruin everything. I am a Ford fan and stockholder for a very long time but the company really has lost its way. Guess they have to cut corners somewhere when they're losing $36K on each Mach-E and Lighting... if they actually sold.

--Quality used to be Job One. The number of recalls on F150s, Broncos, Bronco Sports and so on are absurd. The dealers have flat out told me that none of the staff would own a new Ford and the majority of their backlog work is recalls.

--The Dealer Experience is largely bullshit. From sales to service, it is rare to find a dealer that is decent across the board. I've finally found one for now but it was #3 since I bought it in July 2023.

--The BS didn't have wireless Carplay/Android Auto when many others in their lineup did. What's the point of a Qi enabled charging pad if you still have to plug it in? For Sync only? No thanks.

--On the topic of Sync- the inability to have OTA updates aside, it is a bug-ridden system with intermittent annoyances like the keyless entry will randomly stop working, or the seat recall will stop halfway through the program, and dash cluster info from the radio doesn't always show up properly, let alone the icons on the Sync screen not working. Apparently Ford still can't figure out how to make CANBUS work even though the Germans debuted it in the early 1990s.

--They cut $500 retail in trim bits that likely would cost them pennies on everything. I bought a fully loaded top of the line trim and it was missing stuff that came on previous year's base models.

--Interior plastics are too soft and beyond easy to scuff. Not good in a vehicle that will see off road use.

--The pitiful capacity of the roof rack when optioned with a sunroof. I mean come on- The Yakima tent sold at the parts counter exceeds its limit.

Ford (and Boeing while we're at it) needs to fire the MBAs with their lives spent in the C-suite and hire engineers to run the show like they did with Alan Mullally.
