My 24 BS BB does not have internal NAV. Only get it if I plug in my cell with maps.
Can Nav be added to the vehicle?

Based on my experience from a few years ago I do not think you can add Factory Nav through Ford. If you search the internet there are after market navigation systems you can purchase and even some that will replace the OEM APIM with one that has navigation but I think there is a drawback in that if the APIM needs to be updated Ford will only update based on your VIN which will indicate no nav in the APIM. Everything that I am saying here may be a few years old so I am sure that someone with more current information will be able to give current advice.

I found this on Ford ranger forum. Someone replaced the APIM to get nav and he discusses some of the issues you would have.

I have factory nav in my truck, since I have bought my BS I have had to use waze through android auto and I can tell you it is far superior to the factory navagation especialy if you live in a city where they are adding roads and auch al the time.. the factory one is out of date pretty much a year after you buy it. waze even changes your route to get you around slowdowns and such.

Boku bucks to add it and (currently) $149 for a map update. Great feature for someone with a Tim Cook or Sundar Pichai type wallet, but they'd also rather use their own tech which is superior. Don't feel that you're missing out on something, you are not.

Agee with previous posters. Recommend a wireless CarPlay adapter. Carlinket is popular, I have an ottocast. Works well...

Mine came with factory navigation and carplay. I only use the factory navigation when I forget my phone. You lose real-time alerts and traffic routing with the factory navigation.

I was kind of mad that my OB did not come with factory GPS. But my Wife has an I phone and I have an Android, so we get the best of both worlds.

If you want factory navigation to use when you have spotty cell coverage, consider using Google Maps with CarPlay and downloaded maps. Google Maps has an easy way to do this. You select the area you want for the map, connect to the internet, and download the maps. When you are out of cell coverage range, you still get navigation but no traffic or police alerts..

If you don’t have factory navigation in your vehicle (like me with my 2024 Outer Banks), I recommend getting a wireless adapter that provides seamless navigation when you enter your truck. There are several options available, so just do a quick Google search, and you can’t go wrong.
Good Luck to all.

Apple Maps or Google Maps are FAR superior to the Ford nav!
And significantly cheaper (read: FREE) to update and maintain.
