Did some contract telephone splicing on that road and Garfias wash many years ago. Beautiful country, but in August it was nasty with the heat and monsoons.

A lot of history with the Castle hot springs resort.

August is bad and September 2024 hottest ever but no rain. October (first half at least) is on an excessive heat roll … since May 27.

Hope you got extra pay for the contract telephone splicing —- outdoors in August is a challenge.

It was only about 3 weeks. Just the wrong time of year. The desert is great, in the winter anyway.

I was there last October and did some off roading on quads, it's amazing how green it is. A lot of the trails are only wide enough for motorcycles, quads or side by sides and too narrow for the Sport. Had a good time.

Been in CA. since 1981, different place then. Always enjoyed camping in AZ. from Flagstaff to Tucson and its diverse places to see and explore.
I've camped from the west coast to the east coast and my favorite spot is Lost Dutchmen State Park. Also, Monument Valley, AZ. /Utah. My camping days ended 5 years ago. The desert is a special place, and I've had some great memories there.

There are quite a few cool places/trails out that way. Abandoned mines and mills and such. Look up Anderson Mill. Sandy wash drive, nothing crazy. Same for Dragon mine. Nothing crazy but nice drive.
