My wife is on a long trip in our Bronco Sport and just called to report she lost car connection to the phone and also Sirius just quit working too (she still has navigation). Has anyone else had this issue? Is there an easy fix or something I can tell her to try?... ( she has already stopped and restarted the Bronco, attempted to re-pair the bluetooth, etc). Or is this going to involve a trip to the dealer?

Have her follow these instructions and report back what sync version is currently installed

To find your Sync 3.4 Build Version (do not scan for updates):
Select SETTINGS tab, then
Select GENERAL tab, then
Select ABOUT SYNC tab
It will show the Build Version (latest is SYNC 3, Software Version: 3.4 Build 23188 PRODUCT).

Meanwhile, you can check her VIN and see if this applies to her VIN

Probably going to need to update to 23188. 22251 was a problem. Cheers!

Sync 3.4
Build 22251_PRODUCT
As stated earlier, the Sync update is needed, this is the most current version as of today:
SYNC 3, Software Version: 3.4 Build 23188 PRODUCT

I recommend using a USB Device to perform the update - all the instructions to do that are at this link and are easy to follow:
https://www.ford.com/support/sync-maps-updates/

Then see Post #3 regarding Customer Satisfaction Program 24B47 - 24B47 requires a visit to the dealership or use of the dealership mobile service if available.

I’m constantly experiencing losing connection with my iPhone. When I see sync as available, I tap on it and almost immediately, I get the notification that it failed to connect. After 50 or 60 more attempts, (sometimes days later), it connects.
Every so often, I’ve hopped in and the view of the infotainment screen has changed or my preset settings are gone. Sometimes when that happens, I cycle the start button and the presets return, sometimes not. Very frustrating ?

I'm (apparently) up to date
Well on Feb 10, 2024, you stated “Not even sure”

How about posting a screen shot of the sync screen found by following these steps:

On the 8” Display screen,
Select SETTINGS tab, then
Select GENERAL tab, then
Select ABOUT SYNC tab
It will show the Build Version.

Ford Bronco Sport Sync will not connect to phone or Sirius IMG_8148

I see no relationship to a SXM malfunction and a blue tooth connection to the phone UNLESS she was listening to SXM through the SXM application on CarPlay. Then, it would make perfect sense.

Any Ford vehicle with SYNC 3, Software Version: 3.4 Build 22251 PRODUCT might exhibit oddball issues including impacting SiriusXM and updating to SYNC 3, Software Version: 3.4 Build 23188 PRODUCT (or whatever is latest) is always a wise first step. Might not fix the issue but any dealership would update Sync as a first step.

Many owners think they are on “the latest Sync” due to a defect in Ford’s website that checks the Sync version and because 22251 can incorrectly show as latest on the 8” Display Settings.

The reliable method to check the Sync version has been posted many times but is worth repeating:

On the 8” Display screen,
Select SETTINGS tab, then
Select GENERAL tab, then
Select ABOUT SYNC tab
It will show the Build Version.

Finally using the VIN to check applicability of Customer Satisfaction Program 24B47 (Certain 2018 - 2024 Model Year Various Vehicles: Update SYNC Software) is useful.

I don't know who's bright, Gen Z idea it was to have, possibly, the most important daily driving system- that we pay for- completely shut down pending latest updates. It should work with reminders, not shut down, till the owner gets around to updating it. This has already happened to me twice. Both times it had to go to the dealer. Again if I wasn't going to take a bath on this POS, I'd already be back in a Jeep or a Honda.
