I've had my 2021 Bronco Sport Badlands for three years. I don't drive a lot. I have just over 10k miles.

About two and a half months ago it started a weird clunk/shudder noise in the rear...l thought it was maybe a driveline thing.

Had a recall that needed to be addressed anyway so I took it in when that whole software hijack thing happened to a bunch of dealerships. I went back two weeks later and got the recall thing fixed and left my car for about four days. I was told I needed a new RDU (rear differential unit) and they're on back order with NO ESTIMATE as to when it'll come in.

My service manager called and told me l had to return the loaner they'd given me. I took it in and he gave me my keys to take my car. I asked him if it was safe to drive and he said just stay around town, don't take a long drive like to the airport. (Which he now denies saying!)

In retrospect, I should have just left my car there.

Four weeks ago, when I was starting the car to take my granddaughter home, that RDU just SPUN out, making a horrible noise.

So now I don't have my car and no idea when it might be fixed.

Had it towed to the dealer three weeks ago.

I was given a rental car approved for only six days. They said I had to return it, they'll close that PO, once l return it, and then open another PO to request another rental for another six days, which may or may not be approved.

I twisted some arms (begged, basically) and got a rental approved by the dealership for as long as it takes to have it repaired.

Between @Fordmotorcompany corporate and the dealership, I have NOBODY giving me straight answers.

So stupid.

Anybody else have this issue??

Oh, and the drive mode lights all ding and say they're not available, like five different modes, says collision assist isn't available but it did come on at least once while I was driving, which surprised me because it’d said it’s not available.

It's been EIGHT WEEKS now and there’s no light at the end of this black tunnel.

It cost me $3,000 to put a rear differential in my 21 BB with 60,000 miles on it. The only answer they could come up with is that a few tiny parts in there wore out. ?

Sounds like I need to plan on dumping my 2024 BS before it hits 50K .. only have 4400 on it righ tnow .. only had it 3.5 months
You might want to rethink that. The data you need is a comparison of how many people have issues vs how many don't. There are millions of these vehicles on the road today.

I have a bronco sport 2021 with 25,000 miles. I replaced the water pump and the rear differential. Also 2 windshields, and squealing brakes. Never again

Good morning. Could you please send over a message with your VIN and the name/location of the Ford dealer you are currently working with? I would like to see what I can do to assist with your Bronco's repairs.

Hi there.
I’m not sure how to send a message. I’m new to this Forum.

Maybe order a '25 Sport? I hear they have many issues sorted out now.

So the windshields are also Fords fault?
Indeed… that’s a Red Herring in the list. There’s other threads on here about windshield troubles on these cars and it’s hard to convince me those are somehow Ford’s fault. The Sport simply has a more vertical glass than a lot of other SUV’s. It’s part of the picture for such cars. I was impressed the first time I test drove one, a carmaker would deliver a design of this ilk with its distinctive and useful shape - in my desired size and price class with peppy but frugal performance. I’ve had to replace one windshield on my Sport. A rock fell off an overpass in a rainstorm and frankly I’m thankful it didn’t come thru the window. Safelite delivered a perfect new Ford-branded windshield with timely and flawless installation in my driveway, for $50. After reading on here about the issues, I simply increased my windshield insurance coverage and I imagine it went up $30 or so per year. Problem solved.

To those dealing with RDU troubles, sympathy to you… and I don’t mean to trivialize your frustration. But again, my Sport went thru this to in a way- that is, I took it in for the warranty repair and they put in the new vent hose and replaced the RDU fluid too for $0.

Today I’m happily zipping around in my little Ford with a beautiful new windshield and a silent but potent AWD powertrain.

I’ve seen a lot of people have this problem…seems to me there should be a recall soon BUT with the cost of this ā€œproblem,ā€ I doubt they’ll do that.
I’m glad your problem was easily resolved.

I’ve heard it’s resolved in the ā€˜24’s. Hopefully that’s the case!
