Many have reported their infotainment system starts up with the radio as the selected source instead of the last-used source (USB stick, phone-based program, etc.). I use Android Auto with a couple of different apps providing audio:
Your infotainment system will remain on, playing whatever source you have selected after you shut off the engine until you open the door. Opening the door shuts down SYNC. For my car, if SYNC is playing a source when I open the door it will try to access that source when I restart. If it cannot access that source it will switch to the radio.
The solution that works for me:
I would suggest those of you who do not use Android Auto or CarPlay try some experimentation of your own.

The solution that works for me:
- Turn SYNC's audio system OFF (press the power button) prior to connecting a phone and activating Android Auto.
- Prior to opening the door after engine shut down (which shuts down SYNC), I disconnect my phone from SYNC.
