Survived 6,800 miles until this trip down I-5. PING. Wonder if the windshield crack resin will help seal and stop it from growing.
No change driving back through 108 degree heat.

Many have reported glass dings rapidly develop into cracks. It's not necessarily the heat that drives crack propagation, but more likely rapid temperature change.

Most insurance companies will pay for a repair outright--no deductible. I would advise getting it repaired sooner rather than later.

We got a good stone bruise / bullseye on our maiden camping voyage in the Yukon. that was in the fall of 2021 and it still hasn't spread. I'm quite surprised actually. About 70,000 km on it since then. Probs just jynxed it.

I have a lot of small surface chips and one 1/3 inch crack. Its been there for a year and hasn’t spread.

The rake of these windshields makes them magnets.

As Mark says, get it filled. Normally free with no deductible. Reduces the risk of the Chico turning into a crack and then spreading.

Thanks to the darn forum I now wince and study my windshield carefully, expecting the worst, every time a piece of sand tinks on my windshield.

A good friend of mine owns a windshield repair and replacement business. His advice to me was to get any chips repaired ASAP to keep dirt and other contaminants out of the crevices. The dirt makes it more likely that the repair will be less noticeable after it’s done. He says to especially avoid running the wiper’s across the chip because that presses the junk right into the chip. In my experience with several vehicles, he’s correct.

I had a big bullseye in the center of the windshield on my RAM 2500. I went to AutoZone and bought a windshield repair kit. It cost about 15 dollars and worked perfectly.

yes, I paid about $19 at O'Reilly's. Unfortunately, when "pressurizing" the sealant, it sprung a leak, so the best I could do was to seal the chip; it did not flow fully into it, but it's sealed.
