Hello all,

So I own a 2021 Bronco Sport and as many of you have I just received yet another recall. I am at about 46,000 miles and I am losing faith that the vehicle will be good to keep after 60,000 miles when the warranty is done and am considering trading it in.

How long do we realistically think these things can go?

Thanks

I'm in a 2021 Outerbanks and I just LOVE mine. It's had a bunch of problems (mostly the recalls and TSB's) but since the "whale" back-up noise was fixed (fingers crossed), it's a much better experience. I'm about to bite the bullet on an extended warranty because I would like to keep it for the long haul rather than trade it in, like I have the last several vehicles. I'm at about 28,500 miles. New tires coming this Fall.

I have the same concern for my 21 BB. Really like the vehicle but worried about its longevity so I purchased an extended warranty for coverage to 75k miles.

Our 21 BS/BB has 42K miles & we are keeping it until we cannot drive any more. To those that are questioning the longanimity of the BS because of a few recalls, what vehicle do you expect to buy that does not have any recalls?

Very true on what Vehicles don't have recalls.

The only reason I traded my 2022 Badlands, with 21,000 miles, was because I failed to order some things that I discovered I wanted. The tow package, cargo management and co-pilot ++ (or whatever it’s called. Intelligent/adaptive cruise). I do a lot of driving between Tacoma WA and Seal Beach CA. The Intelligent cruise is very convenient down I5, but it really is not super intelligent. Picks up way to many speed signs for the big rigs and tow vehicles. It tries to slow me down to the 55 speed when I’m in a 70 zone. It does the same thing in school zones when school isn’t in session. It’s just annoying, especially to the vehicles behind me. ?‍♀
I’ve had no other issues (knock wood) and plan to keep my baby Bronco for a long time (maybe add a Bronco down the road for S&G).

I hate to be the bearer of bad news. I just bought a 2024 Badlands for my wife. We both love the vehicle. The problem was we had to buy something because our 2017 Ford Escape 1.5 died at 80k. Metal kept appearing in the engine oil, causing the super fine screens on the variable valve timing solenoids to clog. I took it to two dealers and they both said the engine would probably need to be replaced even though they couldn't tell me where the metal was coming from. The estimate they gave me for a new engine was a little over 11K (the car was probably worth about 10k with a good engine). I ended up getting about 3k for it on a trade-in. Which is more than anybody else would have given us. We purposely bought a badlands because it at least had the 2.0. Which seems to be a better engine. The escape was a relatively good vehicle up until it started having problems around 75,000 miles. We bought it used and I don't know how well it was maintained before we got it. The consensus was the engine was worn because at some point it wasn't maintained properly. But I always had it maintained at the dealer. But we bought it used with 30,000 mi on it. We love the Bronco and I hope it lasts a long time, but we bought the extended warranties just in case. I think they just don't make cars like they used to all around. My '05 Silverado SS has about 300,000 miles on it and doesn't leak or burn more than a a half quart of oil between oil changes. I did have to put a new transmission in at 180,000. But that was far better than the 17 Silverado I had that was burning three quarts of oil between oil changes with only 90,000 milea on it. The transmission failed at 120,000 and a new one was 6k. So I sold it and cut my losses. I sure am glad I held on to my SS.

The vehicle I had before my BS was a Mazda CX5 and it had zero recalls. And before that was a Mazda 3 - no recalls. Before that was an Acura RSX - no recalls. I personally am not THAT upset about it but I didn't expect it? Especially from Ford? Several people asked if I was sure I wanted to by the first year model but I thought - it's a FORD! They've been building vehicles for how long? So I understand the disappointment, mostly re the time it takes to get the fix. All in all not a reason to dislike my vehicle.

I had to turn off that speed sign thing. It was picking up 45mph feeder road signs when I was on the 65mph freeway. But where I live, it really didn't add much benefit. I mean, it would be great if it can differentiate feeder roads or school zones.

About recalls... most cars will have them. My Accord had a couple of them. I want to say my Taurus had one. Same with my ZX2. I think my mom's CR-V has an open one right now that she hasn't taken care of.

Here's my thoughts the Covid crap messed everything up plants shutting down and IMO quality going to crap not to mention cell phones no one cares about working just playing on their phones. The neighbors had a wooden fence put up and the guy putting it up said lumber was so bad during Covid he wouldn't have built a dog house with it.And no i don't have a cell phone.

They should easily go 100k if maintained. The question is what is does maintained mean. Unfortunately there have been a few here that have had transmission issues after 60k.
