Hi everyone, new owner of a BB and wondering how to improve the ride quality for daily driving purposes.

IMO, the ride is very uncomfortable. Bought the BB new from Ford with 15miles of the odometer.

Any ideas on how I can soften the ride a bit when being used for daily driving ? Can I just swap shocks? If so, which are recommended?

Thanks

Did you check your tires air pressure? Many vehicles come overinflated from the factory and your dealership may not have caught it. Just a thought.
Yessir, thanks for the reply. My pressure was 45psi from the dealer lot! I reduced to 34psi and the ride still feels pretty rough.

I have stiffer suspension on my other vehicles and they don't feel nearly as "bouncy" as the BBBS.

What were you expecting? Did you not test drive it? What are you comparing it to?
I did test drive it but it was a different dealer and it was all highway so probably didn't notice. Now that I've daily driving while my civic is in the shop I can tell the ride is bouncy and uncomfortable. I also have a 1977 corvette with much stiffer suspension and it is a much more comfortable ride. So just looking to see if anyone has changed suspension to make the ride more comfortable. I'm also going to install shims under the front seat to help with that.

The Big Bend definitely has a choppy ride, I wouldn’t call it “bouncy”, l thought I have read somewhere the Badlands model has more clearance but softer suspension to accommodate off road conditions better.

Agree, choppy is a better word for it.

I also have a 23 Big Bend and agree the BS does not have a good ride quality. Choppy and bouncy. However, it’s all relative to what someone is used to.

I knew going in, short wheel base + stiffer suspension to reduce body roll and a small light engine over the front end = not set up for optimal ride quality. The vehicle or segment isn’t really either. The BS with the 2.0 engine will ride better due to more weight over the front end.

It’s like driving a go kart, but some customers will like that and find that it’s more fun to drive because of it.

As you get some more miles on it, it might loosen up a bit and or you will get use to it. Most likely not to where you want it to be. My .02 is enjoy it for what it is and what it does well and move on when you are ready to your next set of wheels.

I guess the lesson for others reading through this thread is to test drive a vehicle in ALL conditions before buying.

Assuming the dealer allows you to do that

What? They won't let us drive them through some soft dirt and mud? Maybe a few rocky terrains?

We have to make sure our coffee does not spill.

I joined the forum to learn and ask questions regarding the BS. I'm not hating on it, otherwise I wouldn't have bought it. Not a single vehicle I have ever owned is perfect, this BS included. I came here looking for some help but seems like I just found a troll instead. Thanks for not contributing to my original question.

Yeah, I see where're you're coming from, crazy huh? I read that you're installing shims under the front seat. Can you tel me more about that? Both seats? I'm interested in making a smoother ride for the passenger seat-Thanks-

I haven't installed the shims but read they help with the uncomfortable seat. It elevates the front to angle a bit higher than the rear. I feel like I'm sliding forward a lot of the time.

Here is what I am trying...
