Strange, I ordered from Ford, installed them a couple of weeks ago - they fit right over the existing fenders. They were Bushwackers too.Interesting. They must have updated them.

I think I found the difference. There are two different versions of the the Bushwacker flairs.Strange, I ordered from Ford, installed them a couple of weeks ago - they fit right over the existing fenders. They were Bushwackers too.
I installed the Air Design flares on my old Big Bend. Didn't have to remove anything from the vehicle before install. They got a healthy coating of adhesive on the surfaces that touched the body. The lip underneath used the same fastener positions that hold our felt liners in place (plus a few extra that were already pre-drilled). It was held on with screws and retaining clips.I think I found the difference. There are two different versions of the the Bushwacker flairs.

The Air Design version are attached with adhesive and screws, although in the video below the installer does not remove anything from the rear of the vehicle before installing the flares.
Welp, you've done it again. I have the same ones as you, and mine did not use adhesive. Back to head scratching...Yes that would explain it; there are two different flare options. Duh, I should have thought of that when I first posted. I got the ones that have the fake nut/bolt design, not the smooth ones. Different flares, different mounts - though both are made by Bushwhacker.
@Mark S. I found the solution to all of this today! Just received my bushwackers and was able to find UPDATED installation instructions and spent a good 2 hours figuring out how they go on! You do have to remove the rear fenders! These puppies are just simply not going to come off with how they have you install. Here is a link with the install instructions and a few photos and clips of my install. If any future member sees this feel free to ask me any questions I’d love to help cause it was a doozy to install compared to the rough country flares blue trim tool is what I found works best to remove oem flaresApologies for replying to an old thread but I'm in a jam and looking for help. I've been trying to install the Bushwacker Fender Flares on my wife's BS for the past week. I was able to get the fronts on with no issue but both backs are frustrating me.
I purchased a set from Ford with my points but it didn't come with any directions. I decided to purchase another set from RealTruck and the same thing, no directions. I'm going to send that set back.
I'm so envious of you all who were able to install them. How did you do it? I'll take any help I can get. Thanks in advance!!
