Available in 4-ply rating (SL & XL), the Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT refreshes the popular Discoverer AT3 4S with incremental improvements where it mattered most. Featuring a next-generation tread pattern, the Discoverer Road+Trail AT utilizes a more rugged sidewall design over its predecessor which transitions nicely from the shoulder lugs. In addition the new aesthetics, drivers can expect superior wet performance and improved steering feel, with the same on-road comfort found with the previous version. If you find yourself mainly driving on-road with camping adventures sprinkled in throughout the year, the Cooper Discoverer Road+Trail AT is worth a look!

The provided links above only go to the 225/65/17, which is an SL load rated tire and hence a 4 Ply rated tire but, unless I'm mistaken, wouldn't an XL load rated tire automatically be rated a 6 Ply tire?

For those that might want to take these off-road, I'd highly recommend one of the XL load rated tires, like the 235/65/17 or 245/65/17, over it's SL rated, little brother. Weights for the 235 & 245's are 34 and 36lbs. Also keep in mind, that Tire Rack still considers these to be "On Road All Terrain" tires.

In answer to DT's question "For those that ran the AT3 4S previously" "Will you consider the R&T A/T" NO, I will not, having had 3 sidewall punctures, running off road, on a previous car, with one of their SL load rated tires. They were however, excellent in the snow and rain. I would highly recommend anyone tempted to get these, buy DT's tire warranty, if it's likely you will take it off road.

Appreciate the participation, Blue!

To your question, an XL tire is a reinforced 4-ply rated tire. A 6-ply rated tire would put you into a Load Range C category. :like:

I have mine to be installed on the 19th of October. Hoping they are as great as the reviews. Expecting large amounts of snow this winter.

I have had these tires on for 5 days now. right off the bat I took a huge lose in fuel milage, which is to be expected while new tires break in, but it looks like it is getting better now, but won't know for sure till i do another highway trip. they look better than the pasenger tires it came with, they are also quieter than thoes primus tires I had, which surprised me. so the only thing that is up in the air is how much fuel milage I will lose, I am ok with some as the bronco is getting way better milage than I was expecting in the first place.

just another update after 4000km of driving, I love the tires but if your after gas milage they are not for you. If I didn't have a winter mountain snowflake requirement where I live I would not go with these and when they are worn out I may go back to different summer and winter tires.

the fuel milage hit on these is just huge compared to the all seasons I was running. so before I was getting 35.1mpg(US) with 225/60R18 Michelin primacy A/S tires, with the same size of coopers I am now getting 29.77mpg(US) approximately. I will have a more exact number in a couple days and will change it if it is significant. I can live with this as I like the tires in every other aspect and the milage is the same as what I got with the car I retired to buy the bronco sport.. but it was kind of nice getting that 35mpg and even higher when I wasn't in the mountains

After 1500 miles I'm not seeing any real difference between the Coopers and the stock Wildpeaks.
wild peaks were an optional tire, might have been stock on the badlands, but not on the outer banks or big bend, or heritage. some might have had them dealer installed though. my outer banks came stock with Michelin primacy which is why I needed new tires as I can't run them in the winter.. so the drop in milage for me was quite significant, I was at 6.8L/100km (34.5mpg US) with the Michelin tires now with the coopers I am at 7.5L/100km (31.4mpg US) with the coopers. that's driving 400 miles on the exact same route (to work and back in the mountains) driving the exact same speeds on each section of road. which is still better milage than I got with my fusion so I am happy, and the tires are very good for traction in the different conditions, rain / snow etc, and hydroplaning is almost non existent, so I am very happy with the tires so far aside from the fact that they cost me an extra $1.50 a day to go to work and back haha.
