I lived in deer country for ten years where collisions with deer were frequent. Mostly during during the rut (mating season). My wife and I both hit deer the same week.
I looked into the deer whistle reviews. Conclusion was they do not work.
I think ya’ll are putting them on backwards! I used to see the ads on late night TV. Of course they work!

It’s just too bad the deer here are not as smart as Texas white tails. They look up, say it’s a car and then go back to eating. Up north here, they say look….a car, I bet I can get across before it hits me!

Edit: even Texas white tails run in front of you during the rut. But let’s just face it, no one thinks straight then!

Followup story.
I was driving down the road when I saw a huge 10 point buck standing in the middle of the road. I already had filled my deer tags for the season. I moved slowly up to it and it refused to move. I blew my horn, flashed my lights and he just stood there. I finally let the car roll slowly forward to push him. It took about ten seconds of gentle pushing before he slowly moved out of the way.
Didn't have a cell phone back in those days. It would have made a great video.
That's a great story! I've almost hit many deer (and unfortunately hit 2) over the years, driving home at 11:30 PM after working night shift. I've never seen that reaction.

There was a third deer 'collision' I don't count because I was able to slow from about 60 mph to 0 and just barely bump it. I had the ABS kicking in -- with sticky summer tires on dry pavement. It just stood there watching as I approached. Then after I bumped it, it looked at me and slowly walked into the corn field.

One of my coworkers saw a buck in one of the Metro train yards years ago. He decided to mess with it. He stared it down and began 'clawing' the ground. The buck charged him! Luckily it did not follow through.

There is a video going around that shows a guy in a pickup truck approaching an elk on a remote snow-covered road in what looks like rural Alaska (nothing but snow). The guy begins to mess with the elk from inside the truck -- "You want some of this? The elk ignores him but harpoons his left front tire! So idiot-boy is stuck in the middle of the Arctic tundra with a woman who is not very happy.

It's a classic!

Heck, I thought those long black hood ornaments on the Big Bronco were deer whistles. LOL.

Here is what we did to my wife's BB to help protect it since she leaves for work at 5:00 am. I hit a deer in my 05 F150 & fortunately it did minor damage. You also might want to invest in some good deer whistles. These are the ones we have on our vehicles now since I hit the deer.

I appreciate you posting that photo. I, too, plan to get the RC nudge bar without the lights and that gives a good idea of what it looks like.

Me neither, not here in Maryland anyway. Just black bears.

We have a friend in Colorado -- plenty of elk out there.
