We moved to North Carolina from a mountain top in upstate NY. I used to hunt the Adirondack Mountains when it was minus 20. If you happen to be in NC, stop by and I have stuff, including hand warmers, that I doubt will see much use. I also found that Jack Daniels was helpful when dealing with extreme cold.?
Hmmm

I always heard that alcohol lowered body temps. But a shot of Jack would never be turned down.

For the record, it was 38 degrees in Gainesville this morning. Cold for us Floridians.

Still want a coat and/or something to warm me up on these cold days and nights.

@Bucko I've heard the same and I call BS. A shot of JD or snort of Johnny Walker always warms me up from the inside.

Last time I was in Florida in the winter, it was 50 degrees in Siesta Key and the locals were bundled up like it was Chicago in February. My heart bleeds for you, especially since walking the dog this AM was a balmy 23. :p

As much as I love dogs, if mine needed a walk in 23 degree temps, the dog would be doing it without me. Can I assume you have a Saint Bernard, carrying a barrel below its neck?

As to alcohol increasing body temp: A Google search yielded this...

Alcohol, on its own, doesn't warm you up. What it DOES do is cause your blood vessels to dilate, sending more blood than normal to your skin, giving you the feeling of warmth while actually making you lose heat much faster. Doctors say alcohol and cold weather don't mix.

I'd like a 2024 Shadow Black Badlands, with cloth seats, tow package and Co-Pilot 360+.
Got news a few minutes ago...
My new car is in Production!
It's unlikely to be delivered before New Year's.

For me, I'd like a warm jacket. UF baseball starts in February, and we have some night games during our Florida cold season.

And of course, world peace, brotherly love, and all that stuff that would most likely never happen.
*early* Merry Christmas Bucko

There are days I'm not pleased with what I've done that day, but it never got to the point that I hated myself.

Yeah, but for how long? I've spent at least eight winters in North Dakota. After retiring from the USAF I moved to the St Louis area. I was in the gym one chilly November morning listening to two dudes lament the cold. The forecast highs for that day were to be in the mid 20s. One of the two heard me chuckling to myself and said, "What, you don't think this is cold?"

I said, "Cold is when you know this is the highest temperature you'll see until March."

BTW, I love you Bro. The world would be a much better place if we approached each other with love, respect, and understanding, at least until someone proves they don't deserve any of those things.

Going to Iceland in March for my birthday to see the Northern Lights.

Hope Santa brings me some warmer gear and a hiking backpack. Good think my better half works for LLBean. ;)
Lucky dog! Seeing the Northern lights in person has been on my bucket list for quite some time!

Please capture and post some pics!

Your right, the temps don't stay cold that long. It will be back into the high 70's and low 80's by this weekend. What has me raising an eyebrow is that these last few days of cold weather temps is very early; we usually don't see this until January/February time frame. Just in time for the start of college baseball (huge, huge fan of).

I also appreciate and love you and many others on this forum. Too bad we are not all closer than the keyboard and this forum. We could have a blast.

Will be doing some wrenching on the 67 Camaro this weekend. Just got the Muncie 4 speed rebuilt and ready to drop in. Looking forward to crunching a few rocks with it.

Installing new toys is just about the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Have a ball!

I've had this toy for over 30 years now. My wife is always asking "When will you be done, as you drive it now...?"

I'll most likely never be done with it, until I have my last breath.

I have 430+ hours flying time on the plane I built. It's still not "done."

Debbie Downer Warning:

I'll hoping for a new job before Christmas, I was laid off this week because my startup company ran out of money.
